I have faith in God and faith in what He says to me. why must i have to change the way i think dress act talk to make man happy? God looks on the heart of his people, man condemn man and woman for not being like them.

I have someone in my church saying that i condemn there believes and the church in whole. Now how did i do that when i said nothing against that person other than we got in a heated argument and almost turned ugly!!!

I am firm in my faith in God and he has spoken to me about many of things in life and my calling he has set before me
and for plp to butt in a convo that has nothing to do with them, or a church who adds and takes away from the bible to make it more to what they want it to be is not what i believe in.

i believe in the Bible and Jesus and his followers have said in past present and future, without molding it to benifit me. which some do that and im 100% against it, and i get condemned for going directly by the word of God. what is your thought on this. is God greater and out faith in him greater than he that is in the world??? so why must we be condemned in a a church???

Coolgirl, I agree that we aren't to try to please the world, but rather live a life that is glorifying to our Father. It's difficult when we disagree with church leaders or members about things. I did notice that you were saved only a few months ago. Your passion for the Lord is a huge inspiration to all who know you, I am sure.

It's important though, especially when we are young in our faith, to listen to what those who have lived through years and years of spiritual growth and maturity have to say. Whether they are right or wrong, I do not know. But hear what they say, cast off any pride or defensiveness, and seek to do what honors the Lord. If you pray with an open heart and spirit, and ask the Holy Spirit to guide your thoughts toward what is right, you can make a decision and feel at peace.

The Church Body needs all sorts of members. We need those who are young in faith and on fire for the Lord. We need those who are mature in faith, who have stood the test of time, temperament and refining by the Lord. One keeps us strong, and the other tempers us with wisdom. We would be weak with only one of these, but with both we are a strong light for the Lord.

(I'm not saying these people are right in what they say to you. I don't know what the disagreement was about, or any of you personally. But God does use others to guide and grow us, so anytime something like this happens, pray and give the "elders" due respect because they've been where you are now.)

So happy for your conversion, and thankful to have you with us on CC! :)

Grace like rain gave you the best information you will get. Now I see all sorts of red flags in your last statements. Listening to everyone is dangerous if you are so young you don't know what's real just yet so be careful there. Leaving organized religion? Another red flag you have to be accountable to someone or you will lean to your own understanding. The enemy wants to steal your seed before its rooted. Just be prayerful as you walk in faith. I will put you in prayer. Be blessed.

True, God doesn't look at the outward appearance [1 Sam 16:7], but that doesn't mean you may "dress, act and talk" as you like, it should all be in accordance with scripture. It's ok to discuss with others what the Bible has to say about the choices we make, but out of Love: never should we judge fellow human beings for what they do or say. Ofcourse you don't do what you do for "men," no "man" is to tell you how you should "dress, act and talk." Ultimatily you're only accountable to God.

[/ It is also important to listen to scripture more than older members of the church. It helps to listen to saintly people, but scripture comes first.

Tradition so often enters in, and following denominational decrees instead of scripture. Sometimes even things established over a thousand years ago are from man and are tradition, now scripture. Even the most saintly leaders can get it wrong. Martin Luther, in his old age, began teaching that it was fine to murder rabbis. Certainly, Luther is a man to follow when we check him with scripture, and certainly we wouldn't follow to murder. This is an extreme example.

Absolutely. Above all else... above what leaders say, what we think, what we feel God telling us, what we hear the world telling us... above all, we must make sure our beliefs line up with scripture. Because if it isn't in scripture, it isn't from God.

I have to second the comments about accountability. While it can be hard to find support in the church when you are different in ways that aren't sinful, we all still need someone to hold us accountable. Also remember that just because God calls you to do something doesn't mean you are supposed to start doing it immediately. Especially if you want to work in a rather isolating and difficult environment, it is important to take time to really get your faith foundations in place. Prayer supporters are also vital for ministry success.

Be humble, be teachable, check everything (both what you are sure God has said to you and the advice and criticisms from others) against scripture, build your foundations, and be patient. Things will go much better for you if you do so and the enemy won't be able to deceive you.

You are right we are to install the bible into our lives, and not mold it to fit how we want to live like some do. We are not called to make everybody happy, but the scriptures do say that we are to act according to the gift or measure that we are given so that we can not be held in error or that some one could find fault in us. We also are not to cause stumbling blocks on others in how we walk.

Example: Some believe you actually have to be ordained by another person in order to teach, and want to see your certificate that shows you can preach or teach. Others believe however that God choses us for His purpose and rather or not you have a certificate is only for mans appeasement.

This would cause some to stumble because even if you give true and good advice they would not listen because you have no certificate proven you are allowed to do this.

I believe this but I still tend to go the way that God choses us not men, and why I feel this way is because the Pharisees questioned Jesus and John the Baptist on their teaching and baptizing saying by what authority do you do this. They said this because they did not give them the right to do these things.

I have faith in God and faith in what He says to me. why must i have to change the way i think dress act talk to make man happy? God looks on the heart of his people, man condemn man and woman for not being like them.

I am also non-denominational because of the division that is caused in them. Most through pride believe that they are better and the true church of Christ, and spend to much time arguing over this and other areas of no importance. Instead they should be teaching salvation through Christ and ways of sending members out to help others in need rather it be in faith, finances, food, or even just an open ear for some one who needs some one to listen. They instead want to close doors to others, write people off and eject them from their church if they do something wrong, and use tidings or offerings for the wrong reasons.

I would not change a thing about you. God does not condemn, people do that due to the coldness of their hearts.

Find a new church that applies the Word of God with empathy for those they minister to.

Please know that not all churches of denominations are like this. 200k a year?! Our church is struggling to buy a new copier. We average 90 people on Sunday morning. But we are busy, involved, caring, loving, giving. They have helped me in numerous ways since I have been out of work for the past year. Perhaps you should look for a smaller church. Mine is a real family. I can't imagine my life without my church. BTW, it's a United Methodist church, VERY Bible based with Bible studies twice a week plus additional studies throughout the year. Check out other churches near you as you really do need to be part of a congregation, in the family of other Christians.
