So, this is really just some random thoughts that were on my mind, and they don't fit in very well elsewhere on the boards so I figured I'd go ahead and post up my .02$ right here.
I've been noticing things that normally I would not notice, a lot more recently. For the first time I feel as if I can almost literally "see" the evil in the world for it's true colors and repulsiveness. In all this overwhelming darkness that surrounds us all, I feel as if though our light is being extinguished by disunity and a very loose and fragile alliance the church somewhat maintains within the network of Christians globally. We are at the brink of a very pivotal moment in our nation's history, as well as the history of the entire world I think. The Biblical parallels that can be drawn and correlated between Biblical events and present day occurrences is mind boggling. I think perhaps one of the most prominent parallels that can be drawn is this:
Isaiah 5:20
Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.
I am amazed at how much this is happening today. Society at large wants to take their tips from celebrities and fashionistas about what's right and what is wrong, what's fair and what is unfair. We are allowing "people" to give us meaning to the words right and wrong. People that quite frankly are clueless in my humble opinion. These individuals do not understand that Good and Evil are ABSOLUTE concepts. There are no gray areas as far as I am concerned. If there were then purgatory would exist. If we continue to broaden our definition of Good and Evil, the lines will be blurred to the point that we won't be able to tell the difference between the two any longer. Man once more is subverting the defining quality of our moral and spiritual fabric.
I know I could go on with this all day if I wanted to. I'll offer one more observation I have and then it's gonna be a wrap.
Here is another parallel that I am sure many of you have already made the connection to.
Romans 12:2
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
The term “conformed” literally means to be molded or stamped according to a pattern. The verb is passive, implying that if you don’t actively and intentionally resist this age, you will be conformed. Paul’s use of “world” is not a reference to planet earth, but rather to the world system. Being conformed to this age refers to having the same type of thinking as this age.
I can't tell you good people how many trends I see in society today spring up and gain a cult-like following to soon after. It is amazing to me how much some people want to be like other people. How weak of heart and of mind are we to allow ourselves to become as the rest of the world is in their wicked ways. Why do we not oppose the evils in our world and resist them more fervently? I can't seem to come up with a reasonable answer for that. It's been a topic for me to ponder.
I think I should leave it at that for now, I really do. Am I going crazy here? Am I way off base? Am I just seeing something that isn't there? Let me know what you guys think.
