So at an elders meeting the other night the main pastor proprosed that the church should be the foundation.

This dosent seam right to me seems to me, it should be the family that is the foundation that feeds into the Church, gov and commerce. As a strong family would empower the other three.
Your thoughts?

I have always thought it is Jesus Christ who is the foundation - all else is built on Him - the family, the community of believers (church), and hopefully government, etc. I totally agree with you about the family unit being so powerful on each individual. I'm just sorry that churches don't teach the importance of families taking communion together and having a time of prayer when they all come together to pray.

I'd have to agree. That definitely doesn't look right. Not only does family come before church, but government and commerce shouldn't be part of the church. Commerce? How does that play out?

Christ is the foundation. Everything else should be built on that foundation.

Jesus is the CORNERSTONE............He is the HEAD of the Church.............given that, all in all, this isn't a bad diagram to build from...........Jesus taught the parable of the man who built his house on a rock..............and the man who built on shifting sand...so I'm good with the diagram.

And let us not forget that the Church is the Bride of Christ, so Jesus IS THE CORNERSTONE of what this diagram displays.

As well, although there isn't enough info given to be certain, but as I view the diagram, it's not about the church being involved in government or commerce.............it's about how we build/approach our worldly lives right?

Church: Put God first in all things...............and then...........

Family: Be a strong Christian leader/example to your family.........

Commerce: Be a strong Christian in your daily business dealings with others.......

Government: Be a strong Christian leader/example in the affairs of governing.....

Anyway, these are my thoughts as I view this diagram...........God bless

Scriptural reference: Matthew 10:37) He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38 .) And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me................

He was trying to say church is the foundation and from that believers influence commerce and government. Just like we used to the arts and culture.
