Hi brothers and sisters I am after some advice. I have become very ill and I am torn between what I should so. Do I seek medical help or just put my trust into gods hands and know that he will hear my prayers and heal me.

A priest said that in most of cases, illness is the consequence of sin. There are exceptions (like Job, for example), but, in general, the cause of illness is sin. So, I would seek both God (to heal the causal support of my illness) and a doctor.

I don't understand the question. Why would anyone choose to NOT go to a doctor if they could? God has provided doctors to us so that the physical body can be healed. Of course the spiritual needs to be healed as well.

About 1 1/2 years ago, I broke my wrist, really bad. If I had not gone to the doctor, it would have healed but my entire right hand would have been unusable. Now, it's completely healed and I can play the piano again (which I do every week in church). So God used the doctor so that I could be healed and continue to serve and glorify Him in the church.

If you can be healed with the help of a doctor, then do it so you can continue to serve God here on earth -- and ultimately bring glory to God because all healing comes from Him.

But I also believe that god is all powerful and can heal anybody if we ask. Do you not believe in the power or prayer?

No. Some illness is a result of that, but most illness would be a result of creation being curse by sin and the consequences of that, not personal sin. For example, if I'm near someone with a cold, there's a chance I'll get a cold. That's just biology.

I absolutely believe in the power of prayer. You see, my wrist was broken so badly, the surgeon was not sure it would heal correctly. My church (and I, of course) were praying that God would give my surgeon skill and knowledge to do the right thing. And after the surgery, we all prayed it would be completely healed because we really did not know. Now, my surgeon was not a believer, but I'm quite certain he knew that divine intervention took place. God has given us many resources to improve our lives here on earth. That is not to discount the power of prayer, but when we have modern medicine at our disposal, I think it's a waste of the resources God gave us to not take advantage of them.

So you don't believe god can heal directly?

She did not reach yet your level of humility and hollyness to talk directly to God and ask Him to be at work whenever she feels like tempting Him. She is just that simple kind of believer who believes that the man who stretch the hand to help her from drawning is a man send by God.

Wow 10/10 for your sarcasm. I'm sorry but I just believe that prayer is powerful and that god listens to us. I'm sorry that believing he is so powerful and kind offends you.

If you're already convinced you don't need a doctor, then don't go to a doctor.

Don't ask advice about something if you've already made up your mind.

If you don't think you need a doctor - don't go to one.

But...
if God has allowed you to live in a country with good doctors, and provided you with the finances to go to one...
you should be man enough to tell everyone what happened when you didn't go.

So from what I can gather no one on here actually believes prayer alone can save them? I guess it just seems wrong to turn to science in my hour of need when science works so hard to disprove god. It seems selfish for me to be against science but use it when it suits.

Everything that is good was invented by God including science. And its not working to disprove God, Satan came into the picture and used, twisted, distorted science to disprove God. The deeper you know science, the more you believe that God exists.

I think people have give you some very simple, and very reasonable advice.

I think you are free to think what you want, choose what you want, and view things however you want.

Nobody is arguing with you.
Do whatever you like.

You are not understanding what is being said. God uses people and prayer for healing. He is not limited in how he helps us thru healing. God made science so why wouldn't He use it for His glory? To me it is the attitude people approach the healing process. As long as you are praying and giving God the praise and glory for it and believing that He will heal you through all possible means, then He doesn't care about if we see a doctor. After all God made doctors. Why wouldn't He use them? I have had many instances where God has healed me both ways. I always pray for the doctor and it has opened up some interesting conversations about his healing, love, faithfulness etc. Even the doctors can't always explain what happened and say it is a miracle...giving God the glory.

I am not offended.
Is just that I have a great great respect for the doctors and I am grateful to God for them. Intelligence and knowledge are virtues from God. Stupidity is a sin. Stupidity is the root of all evil.

Stupidity is NOT a sin. It is a character flaw which every person on this earth has. We are ALL stupid at times. The root of all evil is MONEY, not stupidity.

Stupidity and hate goes hand in hand.
