I really need some advice, or at least conformation?!

I belong to a First Baptist Church in Massachusetts. We recently (Jan.) hired a new Pastor. She was originally from New Orleans, and moved here from North Carolina. She is wonderful, I feel like she has brought the Glory of God back to our church! I love her! This past Sunday we were having a luncheon (Baptist prerequisite) and she asked the room (approx.40 people) if anyone would have a problem if when she referred to God, she used the word 'she' or 'her'. I am the only one that raised my hand! I am so not understanding how nobody else had an issue with this?? Thoughts anyone?

Female pastors are unbiblical. I know some people disagree, but their arguments are nonsense.

The Bible refers to God thousands of times, and never once with a female pronounce. God became flesh, a male. Why would she want to defy the universal example from scripture?

Probably, some other people in the room wouldn't approve of her calling God "she". But, they didn't have your courage in raising their hands. Or, maybe the people who cared about what the Bible teaches left the church when she arrived, so they weren't there to raise their hands. BTW, what was the vote count when she was hired? I take it your church is rather liberal to start with, otherwise she wouldn't have been invited.

Relax, man...... there's not a Baptist church out there that believes in women pastors, not even independents.

This isn't chat. This is the forums. Forums are not real time and can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours to get a response. The chat rooms you have to enter separately, and are real time.
Go to the front page and hit big, blue 'Chat now!' button near the top of the screen to enter real time chats.

She is the first female/African American Pastor in our church's history! We have a committee that interviews and hires our pastors. Like I said, I like her, but I'm thinking it might be time to move on! It's just going to be hard, I'm a Sunday school teacher and a lot of my family are members.
