Why do I have certain temptations that I'm trying to kick to the side the more and more I get away from hanging out from the wrong crowd it seems like something they doing I want to do it when I see them I feel like a bad Christian start by doing that because I'm suppose to try to accept people and not judge right? It just feels like I'm being a hypocrite and temptation is trying to keep me away from getting closer away from God and also I'm trying to get into the word a lot and I'm just reading the bible do I start by reading certain bible verses are what I know it's probably a silly thing to ask (I'm a teen by the way) God bless

It's good to not judge people, but you should also use good judgement to stay away from bad company (people or things) that can corrupt you if you aren't strong enough to resist temptation. "Do not be misled: 'Bad company corrupts good character.'" (1 Corinthians 15:33) If people are having more of an influence on you to do bad than you are on them to do good, it's best not to be around them all the time. Temptation is from the devil and will ultimately lead to you being pulled away from God because all the devil wants to do to you is kill, steal and destroy (John 10:10). "...each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death." (James 1:14-15).

And asking what to read in the bible isn't a silly thing to ask at all. A lot of people will have a lot of different suggestions or tips on what to read or where to start, but whatever you read, let it really sink into your heart by imagining what you read. If you are confused about something, ask God to help you. The Holy Spirit will teach you and remind you of everything the Lord has said to you (John 14:26). There's plenty of people on here who would love to help if you needed help too :)

May God bless you with wisdom, understanding and knowledge as you continue to seek Him and get closer to Him! :)

Satan has devious means to tempt people. When you feel compelled to hang out with the wrong crowd the devil is working his magic. Satan gets into our heads and we must resist with the full armor of God. As far as the bible is concerned, many people encourage us to start with John. John is all about giving the reader a grounding in who Jesus is. However, a good topical index is great in finding specific topics you would like to read about in the bible. With, for example, Bible Gateway, you can search in many different ways. This site has many folk who are very knowledgeable so search them out on the forums and in chat. By the way, welcome to Christian Chat.

Welcome to the site. It's not silly. Those are good questions to ask, and that really is a tough situation I know. It's ok to not do something you don't think is right or no isn't right. It isn't judging them to decide not to do it. I don't know whether you've got to the story where some religious leaders bring a woman who they caught in sexual sins to Jesus. They are ready to stone her to death, but Jesus tells them that if any of them have never sinned before they should be the one to throw the first rock at her. When no one does, he tells the woman to go forward and not sin anymore. (John 8:1-12). Jesus didn't condemn the woman like the others did, but he didn't necessarily agree with the act either. Just a thought, I'm not sure if that fits your situation exactly. Just an example. I'm with starting with the Gospels, first four books of the New Testament. I'm not sure whether it matters the order since they're all different accounts of the life of Jesus, but it's a good starting point. If you ever need to chat or as anything feel free to drop me a line any time. I hope you like it here :)

Welcome to Christian Chat, Maurice.

We all need to resist the temptation to sin. That means we shouldn’t spend more time than we need to with people who don’t resist the temptation to sin.

Any Bible reading is good. It is good to read the entire Bible. I would say the most important part is the first four books of the New Testament – Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. This is because these contain the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
