I was born again 3 years ago. I haven't known God until the past 3 years. The reason I went to church before was because I was pushed to. Don't get me wrong, I believe in The Lord with all my heart. Church just doesn't comfort me. I have problems with large crowds and church has so many people. I just don't feel comfortable and I feel restless sitting too long. In my own time, I worship/praise God through christian music. I also listen to audible sermons on my phone. All the things I'd do at church. Does God not like that? Does he want me to go to church? I just feel out of place when I'm at church.

Praise God, sister Kat! I'm so glad you're a part of the family of God! And welcome to CC, too. :D

A church should be a place where you find fellowship, get discipled and help each other grow in the grace of Jesus, it's a place where you look forward to worshipping the Lord together, where you are accepted as true FAMILY. A church is a place where you can strengthen one another.

Perhaps you should visit a few churches. Ask a few friends or co-workers if they can recommend a church for you to visit. Also, you might want to go online and check out a few websites of churches in your area. Call the pastors or pastors' wives and ask questions. Maybe a church where you feel you are comfortable and fit in better might be the answer.

As for you spending time with God alone, nothing compares to the intimacy of spending time with the Lord Jesus, one on one. A Christian needs to spend lots of alone time with the Lord Jesus, talking with Him, listening to Him, resting in His love.

But a church is for our benefit, too as it helps edify one another and support each other through life. There is safety in numbers and it's a true privilege to have a family of believers on your side in this world. I pray you find an awesome church that glorifies Christ and that gives you joy and peace to be a part of it.

No God would not be mad at you for not going to a church building.
The concept of the church has gotten all mixed up into people believing it is the building they go to. The truth is the church is the body of believers. The bible does say not to neglect the assembly, but that does not mean you have to go to a big building full of a lot of people. If you have just a couple others come over to your house, or go to theirs to praise and worship God and hold bible study then you still are following the assembly of fellow believers.

I became nondenominational because of the lack of scriptural preaching that I have seen in all denominations, and the adding on of additional requirements that some denominations do that are not with bible requirements for salvation.
The other thing that swayed me to go nondenominational was the watering down of the gospel to a mere belief system, which also is not biblical. Obedience is taught all throughout the bible, from the OT to the NT. Even our Lord Jesus taught obedience to His teachings.

I don't go to church either, because of health issues mainly limiting me to my house alot. I do watch an online service streamed live from Florida, though. :) It is calvaryftl.org if you're interested in checking it out.

You're welcome here! I think that going to worship is a grand thing, and it's important to have to be in touch with other believers. I don't believe that God is mad at you though. Maybe you can find a smaller congregation in your area? I hope you find what you have a good experience here.

Church is not the building. Anytime you are sharing the gospel. that is church. No way would God be mad at you.
The scriptures do teach that going to church is a good thing. That is something that you want to keep in mind.
For there may be blessings in church for you.

Question: "Does a person have to attend church to go to heaven?"

Answer:
Salvation is found in Christ. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16). God gave His Son so that we may have eternal life, thus destroying the need of good works, including going to church, to go to heaven. Eternal life is attained by faith alone in Christ alone. “He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life” (1 John 5:12). Those who believe in Christ, who have accepted His sacrifice in payment of their sins, will spend eternity in heaven. Those who reject Him will not.

No amount of church attendance will earn eternity in heaven. No lack of church attendance will result in the loss of salvation. However, church attendance is important. The universal Church, made up of all who believe in Christ to the glory of God the Father, is Christ's body (Colossians 1:18) as well as His Bride (Revelation 21:2). So a church is a place of Christian fellowship. In addition, as members of the body of Christ, we possess certain gifts of the Spirit, and we are to exercise those gifts for the glory of God and the edification of the rest of the body. For a church body to function properly, all of its “body parts” need to be present (1 Corinthians 12:14-20).

Christians who have been made “new creations” in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17) will have a desire to attend church because they will recognize that doing so is crucial to their spiritual development and maturity. Reluctance toward church attendance may be an indication of disillusion with “organized religion.” There are indeed false churches today, but the true, universal Church is expressed through congregations whose doctrines are based entirely on the Scriptures, which are trustworthy (Psalm 111:7) and inspired by God Himself (2 Timothy 3:16). Although no church is perfect, and church attendance will not guarantee eternal life, finding a good local church is crucial for Christians.

uestion: "Why is church attendance / going to church important?"

Answer:
The Bible tells us we need to attend church so we can worship God with other believers and be taught His Word for our spiritual growth. The early church “devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer” (Acts 2:42). We should follow that example of devotion—and to the same things. Back then, they had no designated church building, but “every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts” (Acts 2:46). Wherever the meeting takes place, believers thrive on fellowship with other believers and the teaching of God’s Word.

Church attendance is not just a “good suggestion”; it is God’s will for believers.Hebrews 10:25 says we should “not [be] giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Even in the early church, some were falling into the bad habit of not meeting with other believers. The author of Hebrews says that’s not the way to go. We need the encouragement that church attendance affords. And the approach of the end times should prompt us to be even more devoted to going to church.

Church is the place where believers can love one another (1 John 4:12), encourage one another (Hebrews 3:13), “spur” one another to love and good works (Hebrews 10:24), serve one another (Galatians 5:13), instruct one another (Romans 15:14), honor one another (Romans 12:10), and be kind and compassionate to one another (Ephesians 4:32).

When a person trusts Jesus Christ for salvation, he or she is made a member of the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:27). For a church body to function properly, all of its “body parts” need to be present and working (1 Corinthians 12:14–20). It’s not enough to just attend a church; we should be involved in some type of ministry to others, using the spiritual gifts God has given us (Ephesians 4:11–13). A believer will never reach full spiritual maturity without having that outlet for his gifts, and we all need the assistance and encouragement of other believers (1 Corinthians 12:21–26).

For these reasons and more, church attendance, participation, and fellowship should be regular aspects of a believer's life. Weekly church attendance is in no sense “required” for believers, but someone who belongs to Christ should have a desire to worship God, receive His Word, and fellowship with other believers.

Jesus is the Cornerstone of the Church (1 Peter 2:6), and we are “like living stones . . . being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 2:5). As the building materials of God’s “spiritual house,” we naturally have a connection with one another, and that connection is evident every time the Church “goes to church.”

While the building is not important, we are instructed in the Bible to fellowship with other Christians.

Welcome to CC, but it does not replace real, live church, unless you are physically unable to go.

I pray you will find a good church, with inspired preaching, worship to the King, and friends who become like family!
