If you know and love Jesus the please help me to understand about his reasoning. Why did Jesus have all 12 of his disciples write about his ministry according to their own perception but never write a single word himself. I'd like to rule out that he was to busy or that he couldn't read or write himself. I personally can't believe either of those two answers.

I am sure that the creator of the universe knows how to read or write. I don't believe that all 12 of the apostles (disciples) contributed to the writing of scripture. Those that did so were inspired and guided by the Holy Spirit. If their perception influenced their writing it was still performed under the auspices of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus wrote something on the ground once with His finger but it is unknown at this time what that was about.

The Word of God reveals His character and the way to salvation. God is Love. That is why the bible was written.

Welcome to CC.

Probably the same reason they need a book to tell them that man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the LORD.

Well there is a thing called the triune or trinity that tells us that God the Father;along with Jesus the Son; and the Holy Ghost, or Spirit; are all separate yet all one. Now this is a concept that befuddles our minds as humans because we have nothing to relate that too exactly. But with that said, The Word teaches that all scripture is God=breathed...so if God actually wrote every Word from His breath thru men, and Jesus is God as well --then Jesus did say the scriptures directly. Not to mention the quotes in Scripture that are His anyway.

In the point of the different angles on the Gospels the authors used to speak thru by God . had different backgrounds and inclusions to make different highlights. We have to remember, to, the History of the Church the Gentiles and Jews didn't merge so easily, as they do, post scriptures. And still today separatism is abounding as then. But up to that time of Christ it had been a different world order. Moses set the carpet, Elijah set the carpet as well...for John and Elisha that gave us insight into this change of format. From repentance and punishment to grace and forgiveness...

In the scriptures Luke was a man of the medical profession and had in his perspectives over others.. and was unique in that He had background that transcended both Jews and Gentiles each one of these men spoke to a specific people and purpose laid out by God, lover the same events. Not to try to get it right but to illustrate different points.,,,,

. Way to much to get into in one setting, so the bible is a very responsive book to the details of its applications..

In response to Jesus never reading we hear Him say in scripture time and time again...for it is written, His response to Satan's temptations is riddled with such responses...so if He said that how could He?.... if He could not read?

It is fair to say a Carpenter back then would not have been of a class to have oracles on Papyrus that was not like todays easy to get writings, to have gained much ground in reading, yet He had somewhere found a time to do so. Head me up sometime and we can talk more if you like...this is more an intro page so we can shift gears...Hope that helped. There is timing and other inclusions as well so give it some study...

Look at it this way.We got/get to participate in HIS WORD. It is a privlige to be included is it not? But his direct words (those in the red letter bibles) are purely his words.

Even with moses God gave the tablets of stone to moses to keep. So we see God wanting us as partners. He lets us be a part of his plan.

First I would like to thank you slave. You did a fine job of making a simple question as complicated as possible. I have a high level IQ and my reading comprehension is a lot better then most but I got completely lost with your answer.I really do thank you for going to the trouble. I just think the answer is a little simpler then all of that.

This is likely a question no one here can answer. You're asking people to know the motives of another, when there is no clues left behind to explain.

A possibility could be that by allowing others to write his story he is exempt from being accused of exaggerating his own testimony.
Another could be that having multiple accounts gives more credence to the stories as having multiple people, with multiple perceptions, yet that all match, makes things appear more valid.

Just a few possibilities, but again, no one here can know, with certainty, the answer.

Hey Zmouth. I don't think I can really agree with your answer either. I have seen God influence events in my life as well as others. I have witnessed God's wrath as well. Once or twice on me. I deserved it. No daut about it.I have read the words of others who say they speak for God. God gave us a gift of free will. God will never step into our minds and control what we think, say, or write. It's the same for everyone sinse we left Eden. It would destroy us if God were to do so. All of the thing's I have witnessed happened by external influence. God did inspire them to write and all they that had to say is the truth but what that said was their personal perception of the events. Sorry. I wish it were that simple.

Hey ugly. I like your answer. I've already thought the same things. I just think there is something more to it. I think your on the right track but you're not quite there yet. Same as me. That is why I asked the question in the first place. It is possible to think like someone else. All you have to do is walk a mile in their shoes. I think the word perception need to be better understood. What do you think?

Thanks Tourist. I stand corrected almost. How many wrote in the Bible? What exactly was said about Jesus writing on the ground? What is auspices? Yes God is unconditional love. Meaning no matter how tarible a person you may be God does still love you!!! That being said God is no fool either. No room in heaven for evil!! God can see us for who we really are!!! It's good to talk to good God fearing people!!! Thank you!!!

hey Michael65 welcome to CC. First of all not all of the disciples wrote about the life of Jesus. Second think about it this way...The Gospels are in a way a kind of a "biography" of Jesus life. If Jesus Himself wrote an "auto biography" would it mean as much? I could write my "auto biography" but i could really make it say whatever i wanted and it could be disputed. The "biography" of Jesus written by four seperate people all coming to the exact same conclusion is quite hard to dispute. We must also remember that each Gospel was written to a certain "people" and to show a certain "aspect" of who Jesus is. One written to the Jews (Matthew), one written to the Gentiles (Luke), one written to show He came to serve (Mark) and one written to show His Deity (John). So God had these men write about Jesus life from their own point showing a certain "aspect" for a certain reason. When we take and read the Gospels together we can have a better understanding of who Jesus is and why He had to die for us.

oh and to answer another of your questions...Only Matthew, John and Peter were of the original 12. the other New Testament books were written by Mark (probably a teenager at the time Jesus ministry), Luke (a physician), James and Jude (half brothers of Jesus) and Paul.

Why did Jesus have all 12 of his disciples write about his ministry
Following Jesus is all about approach and attitude. Jesus could easily state who he was and what the truth was, but the important testimony was what happened to the deciples when they faced the impossible, God made man. The whole message, intention only made sense after the events, and his friends the deciples only got it after he had risen and the holy spirit had fallen on them. It is like a disclosure of a whole play, a scene, where until you see the reality and the text it does not make sense. Jesus wanted the impact on his deciples to be enough literally to change the world, not just ideas, or commands, but literal one to one impact. It was crucial that this impact was not invented, or out of his mouth, but out of theirs because they believed him and experienced it first hand, our representatives.

If you want another reason to say He is the Lord made man, you can see why and how he did what he did. Any human leader would want his words written down as he spoke them, just like so many "prophets" that have come after him.

Not really sure if anyone will agree but hear me out. Perhaps Jesus did t write anything for the sole reason of letting us see Him through real people's eyes. If he were to have written it then people would find it as biased because he was writing about himself. When someone else however speaks of His majesty not only does it increase credibility but also makes it more amazing. Anyone can be amazing to themselves but when every day people who honestly were not writers at all(fishermen, tax collectors, regular men) can eloquently write books about the amazing awe inspiring majesty of Christ Jesus Himself, that's pretty amazing. Plus He is so amazing everything He said would have been seen as boasting and who's gonna wanna read and believe the words of a boastful person. I'm not saying I think like God, but His thoughts are above ours and I imagine that thought crossed his mind haha. Hope that helps :)

Yep i agree as anyone can make their "auto biography" pretty good if they wanted. Like i mentioned the Gospels were written by four different men writing to four different audiences or subjects thus giving us the "whole picture" which could possibly not have been seen if only written by Jesus. (now obviously Jesus is God and could have done it but thats not my point lol)

Well J Davis for a 17 year old young man you seem to have give a very good answer. I think you are correct. The only problem is that I think there is much more to it then that Jesus was a very smart man and his reasons for doing the things he did the way he did them are far from simple. There is hidden meaning in all that he did. Well at least I believe that. I'm looking for the reason or reasons that are not so obvious. It is my mistake for not including that answer after I asked the question. What I would like you to do for me is think about the word perception. What does it mean? Hopefully you will try again to answer the first question. It is a very important question. I wish I could figure out the answer for everyone. It have had me stumped for over 33 years.

Perhaps I should explain why I believed there is hidden meaning in Jesus and his ministry to the world. First he had many enemies. Second he really was God and could foresee the future and how his work would be used by mankind. Look in any history book and see how his work was used to manipulate people to war and plunder. So I think there is hidden meaning in his work. The truth hidden within the truth. I just can't seem to figure it out by myself. That's one of the reasons for asking the question.

First of all, understand what a biography is and an autobiography. When someone writes a biography on another person, it shows high interest, intense study and fact finding, lots of personal inside revealing stories by close reliable sources who knew the person, etc. An autobiography is a person sitting back writing their own history about themselves, which means that nobody is needed for verification or research. The author alone writes as they see fit about their own purposes, intentions, and conclusions. JESUS lived and reflected GOD, His heavenly Father. His words, actions, emotions, supernatural healings and events spoke VOLUMES. HE did not have to promote Himself, advertise, seek attention or put Himself in the front pages. You will also notice that JESUS was water baptised but never baptised anyone Himself, except through the Holy Spirit after He ascended into heaven. When you are GOD, you do not have to write about yourself, toot your own horn or get payed for an interview on the Talk Shows. That job is for those who honor JESUS, support HIM and live for HIM as best as they can. Are you having issues with your own perception of HIM so much that you think that the 12 Apostles perceptions of HIM are not true? Was JESUS to stop bleeding to death on the cross for a moment so that HE could write down His own ministry, in His own words so that you, Michael, would believe it better?

Thank you Pwnrc. I think you are correct in your answer. Thatbis about Jesus having the reason of credibility for not writing about himself! I already thought of that and also someone else (a very smart 17 year old none judge mental young man) tell me the same thing. I apologize for not including this obvious answer after my question. Let me assure you. I am a Christian and I am not questioning Jesus, the Bible, or God. I have been asking myself this question for over 33 years. I have not yet found the answer to my satisfaction. I believe there is hidden true in Jesus and his ministry to the world. I'll tell you why. First Jesus had many enemies and know it. Second Jesus was truly God in the form of a man. He could foresee the future and how his work would be used to manipulate people to go to war for plunder. This is very obvious. Pick up any history book and you can see clearly. What I'm saying is the truth. So I think Jesus,God, and the Holly spirit hid the truth with in the truth. I just wish I could figure it out! I'm hoping someone will help me and not be judgemental by condemning me for wanting to learn more about the Bible,Jesus,God, and the Holly spirit. Thank you and God pleas.
