Are you willing?
I ask are are you willing?
Are you willing to surrender yourself completely and give your life to God?
I was faced with this question
I was taken by surprise not by the idea of giving my life to Christ
But the call that came with it to serve him unconditionally
We live such comfortable lives living in our bubbles of safety
But are you willing to give that up?

An often overlooked man came to Jesus and asked, "Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
Isn't this the question we all want to know the answer to?
The Sunday School answer is the answer we all are told, tell Jesus you believe in Him and ask for forgiveness of your sins and invite Him into your heart.
But is that really it?
The answer my friend is no!
A resounding no!
What Jesus replies is the cost of following after him.
Again I ask are you willing?
Mark 10:21 shows us what the cost is.

And Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “You lack one thing: go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”

I believe that Jesus wasn't talking simply about your money.

But rather a call to give up our comforts to serve him because truly living your life for Christ is not an easy one.
Are you willing to let go of all you think need, all your possessions, all your friends, your phone, your computer, your TV, your home, your goals, your plans?

Are you willing to give up everything to follow after Christ with your whole heart?
Because if we aren't seeing Christ fully and trusting completely in Him then how can we ever give our lives to him?
But giving your life to Christ may entail hardships and suffering here on earth but the rewards waiting for you in heaven will far outweigh any comfort you have in this life.
I ask one last time, are you willing?

I see what this is leading to and where you want to take it..however, I am having an issue with it being YOU, a total stranger, asking this of others. What background are you from, what authority, credentials, what level or walk are you in the moment, with JESUS CHRIST? Yes, we get it..JESUS offers so much more than we can imagine if we fully surrender over to HIM. Who are you? Are you speaking from experience? Have YOU given up all your convenient pleasures too? Are you preaching to the choir? It would be awesome to hear a personal testimony as a witness to us. I would honestly enjoy this more and feel an inward spiritual tug to follow one who knows what they are talking about. What I see is a challenge only..with NO mention of your SELF doing this. Anybody can 'challenge' all day long, but let's hear or witness or see if YOU are reflecting one totally immersed in JESUS, or the one who hung his head and walked away from JESUS.

Hi, my name is Jon-Micah, I'm only 19 years old but I have felt God stirring in my heart in a way that I have never felt before. I grew up in a Christian home going to church every Sunday and being surrounded by Gods love, but I didn't really claim my faith as my own and begin to build my deep relationship with Christ until I was about 13.

I recently have been going to college to get a degree in psychology, but in recent months God has been pulling my heart towards ministry and sharing His message of unending love. Recently I have had almost all the things that I thought were important stripped away from me, my girlfriend, my friends, being able to continue going to school, and my ability to rely solely on myself to take care of myself. What God has shown me through this is that my mind and heart was not where He wanted it to be. He has led me back home to my family and shown me that I need to fully rely on Him for provision and not on myself.

What I wrote above is simply the question that has been on my heart, the question God has been asking me. But the question is also a call to every Christian to ask themselves are they willing to serve God with their whole hearts. God has called me to serve Him fully and to trust in Him with everything and taking that step of letting go of my own plans and desires has been one of the biggest challenges I have ever faced.

hello and welcome to CC.. Your opening post is more appropriate for the bible discussion forum. The new members forum is only for introducing yourself. :)

Thank you for clarifying, I kinda felt that it would be my way of introducing myself as I tend to think in a more poetic way and felt that sharing what God has placed on my heart to be a stronger representation of myself rather than simply saying hello. I apologize for the confusion in that.

What you wrote is fine in my opinion...we get used to analyzing in here some, and people need to just get to know you first is all. and we do care about the things God is working on in your life, I suggest you sit in others threads too and get used to the interaction flow , You can still say your heart but that way you don't have to prove every word coming out of the shoot, having started the thread ...smile. Make sense? But if you want to do anything in here we are all in the same boat feel free to do whatever you feel lead to do..God bless Jon Micah, now you can start by telling me who gave you that cool name...sounds like a cool thinker to me.

Thank you so much, I will definitely be looking around and exploring looking for places to share my thoughts. And my parents actually came up with it when they couldn't agree on one or the other so they decided to just combine the two and I think they did an excellent job of creating a new name.
