Greetings from an unconventional homebody !

I thought I would drop a line to introduce myself and kill the boredom of a lazy day....
I chose the pseudonym loveiskind because it is present in my favorite passage from the bible.

I thought I would start with the following leads:

BOOKS :

to this day the latest book I have been reading is "Unholy Deception" by Randy Alcorn; an unexpectedly pleasurable detective story with an uplifting message.
My mind is slowly progressing toward the acknowledgment that there will come a day when paper books will disappear and I have yet to persuade myself to read a book on a PC for leisure (I use the PC all the time for my technical needs, searches and communications, but not for reading novels).
I treasure dearly my favorite paper books which one day I may read again...
Some of the authors I have read are Stephen king, Terry brooks, some james michener (it is a very committing reading), douglas preston and lincoln child, wilbur smith (this one too can be committing), isaac asimov, leigh brackett, edgar rice burroughs, valerio massimo manfredi, clive cussler, michael crichton...

ASTRONOMY :
one is astonished at the beauty of God's creation while looking at some of the striking colors and patterns in the nebulae and the heavenly bodies ...
How unique is the earth planet that the Lord created custom-tailored for humans to live in...
Who would imagine that we could watch images of Mars from the various rovers as if they were just taken in our own backyard ?

TECHNOLOGY :
the ITER fusion reactor should be operational in a few years in France, it fuels a hope to provide clean energy in abundance.

MOVIES :
the one that lately impressed me the most was the martian. Ridley Scott invariably does not fail, as shown in the alien saga.
I believe him to be one of the most talented directors together with Spielberg , George Lucas, David O. Selznick, sergio leone, Mervyn LeRoy ...
Most romantic movie I have ever watched : red wing, it is the sweetest love story I have ever watched.
My favorite period pieces: probably catherine cookson's the moth, pride and prejudice and the scarlet pimpernel
What aspects do I value in a film ? a wise combination of entertaining action, humor, meaningful content with respect to life issues and human emotions, quality speech and dialogue, quality acting, the delivery of an encouraging message and rightful principles, absence of unnecessary morbid or vulgar scenes, absence of sexually explicit scenes.
My favorite actors : Harrison Ford, Clint Eastwood, Reese Whiterspoon, Sigourney Weaver, gregory peck ...

PSYCHOLOGY :
I have enjoyed reading a couple of books by Townsend and Cloud , especially "how do people grow" has changed my life.
I enjoyed taking the briggs myers personality test and I have taken many others also online.
Being able to convince myself that I do not need any help with my behavioral patterns is the proof that I indeed need help. Human brokenness manifests itself through fears, worries, anxiety, anger, pride, selfishness, insecurity...
Beyond the self-help resources and human counseling support, I try to be aware of how incomplete the knowledge of myself is and I try to inquire of the Lord to gradually reveal more as time goes by to help me with my shortcomings.
I try to talk to Jesus almost every day because He is the only perfect counselor who knows all of a human heart and can completely empathize and relate to any possible emotion that I feel...

SPIRITUALITY :
A good resource is counterfeit gods from Timothy Keller , it is surprising to see the amount of idols in totally unsuspected areas of life.
(family, position, money and even in Christian ministry and the list goes on)

For the bible teaching I enjoyed a Beth Moore's bible study, Robert Jeffress, David Jeremiah, Charles Stanley, RC Sproul and the pastors in the different churches I have attended .
While reflecting ,there arise some questions to ponder due to the finite nature of the human mind :
- the Lord did not make people like robots, free will appears so to humans ?
- what is exactly the human portion of choice in predestination
- how to clearly identify with our senses a good purpose after witnessing or experiencing trials
- how to discern whether a thought is coming from God or from the human sinful heart
- which part of achieving a God planned goal is a person's portion of responsibility and how to proceed towards it in actions and decisions.

MUSIC :
Nowadays I feel that many of the different genres are losing their original identity,so I hold on to an older era, mostly 90's and earlier for country, love ballads, soft rock, r&b, rap, soul which are the genres I prefer.
In fact I recorded for myself a collection of over 2000 songs by exploring in depth the discography of the available artists for each genre on discogs.com.
My favorite artists are among many others beth nielsen chapman, aretha franklin, carpenters, barry manilow, anita baker, survivor, mariah carey, stacy lattisaw, natalie cole, james ingram, peabo bryson, michael bolton, diana ross, lionel richie, reba mcentire, claudio baglioni, ron, fiorella mannoia, charley pride, taylor dayne, whitney houston, kirk franklin, twila paris, bb jay, loretta lynn, lynn anderson, crystal gayle, celine dion...

FOOD :
body health is deeply affected by its nourishment and there appears to be an encouraging trend in the market toward promoting healthier foods with less additives at a reasonable cost. Working on a balanced diet is a lifetime endeavour, as the body changes over time and in different life circumstances.

I have removed most refined sugars from my diet and try to eat food I cook from unprocessed simpler ingredients, including proteins , healthy fats and healthy carbohydrates, and drink at least 1/2 gallon plain spring water a day.
I do not deep fry but occasionally I like eating some dishes deep fried preferably in extra virgin olive oil or beer batter and properly drained from the excess grease.
The latest recipe I have acquired is sauted cod stewed in tomato sauce .
I saute and bake all my dishes with good quality extra virgin olive oil.
Rarely I steam and sometimes I boil in the slow cooker.
I have a sweet tooth, but try not to indulge too much, although on special occasions I cannot resist a good dark chocolate cheesecake, pecan or chestnut pie, cherry cobbler or other treats...
some favorite foundational recipes :
-pasta sauces : pesto(with different nuts), eggplants, zucchini , beef ragu' (tomato sauce), sauteed mushrooms, tomato basil
-non sweet country bread with good quality (maybe imported) mozzarella cheese melted in the oven and topped with anchovies paste or any pasta sauce spread
-baked potatoes with fresh rosemary and garlic
-baked veggie mix (eggplants, zucchini, bell pepper, carrots...)
-egg/whole durum pasta with any pasta sauce & romano/parmesan imported cheese
-meat spezzatino (saute+stew) 2 version red (tomato) or white (water broth)
(can use chicken, beef or other meat and the cooking times change depending on the meat tenderness);sometimes I stew some lentils in the tomato version so I kill two birds with one stone. The preparation for this one takes a while as with the beef ragu'.
-baked salmon or other fish with, lemon and thyme/marjoram/rosemary/ mix dry natural spices.
-I make my own garbanzo flour pancakes for my breakfast and top them with fresh fruit, plain nut butter, unsalted sunflower seeds, shaved coconut and sometimes dark chocolate or carob chips.
-for a quick tasty snack any plain nuts (no salt, sugar or any other additives ) or a hearty wholegrain/seed bread with any natural plain nut butter spread
-beans/lentils in slow cooker with garlic and maybe some fresh rosemary

ELECTRONICS :

NOTE: for the electronics section I welcome any ideas on how to use this experience to help out...
As I expressed in my profile I would love to share, show and explain all the code if it could help someone (I am not so clever for readability and portability as for functionality, but I try...)

electronics-software :
I recommend linux as the most flexible/robust/efficient/open and completely free OS for any computing device.
(I am longing for the day when they will put a full fledged open-source linux on tablets and phones !)
I installed ubuntu with lxde on all my computers and on a need basis I do low-level coding mostly in C to automate some manual procedures for data manipulation. I also did some scripting in bash, matlab, tcl.
I have coded for various parsers and format conversions, math processing/wave analysis, sort/numerical optimization/cross-ref algorithms, process handling/inter-communication, digital simulation event scheduling, circuit simulation stimulus, digital circuit VHDL/verilog RTL code and testbench, hpvee circuit bench test object-based code, some basic tree structures analysis, various behavioral system models implementation.
The latest code I made for household needs was a monitor for my camera remote system streaming through the internet with the home pc as the controller (using ffmpeg for capturing the stream) with 2 completely different codes to compile with the C api functions for windows and linux.

electronics-digital circuit design :

I have implemented on linux a methodology to synthesize a simple digital circuit starting from the verilog RTL code down to pre-layout schematic and spice simulation using purely free open source software for simulation, synthesis, schematic editing, mapping from a sample pdk standard library and coding many programs to support the flow.

Hello and welcome.. This forum is specifically for introducing yourself, not starting discussions. :) Your OP will receive more coverage in the Family forum. I'll ask a mod to move this thread there for you. Be aware of the different forums, each one is for specific subjects. :) There is a poetry forum, a music forum, and a user to user tech support forum, among others.

Welcome to CC.

The Myers test never works on me I always come out as border. Lol
The last time it came up as a combination of:

Teacher
Commander
Supervisor
Provider
Counsillor
Protector
Mastermind
Inspector

I also come up borderline as both extrovert/introvert and
Intiuative/Sensor. And Thinker/Feeler!

What can I say, I'm an all rounder. Lol
