Hello to all my fellow believers. i am David Moyer, a fellow believer of over 45 years. i came to know Jesus as my Lord and savior in 1971. I played the part of jesus in a theatrical production at Whitworth College, a Christian college. i auditioned for the part with the hopes of getting the part of Jesus to show all those Christians how silly it was to believe in Christ. One evening while singing about dying at Gethsemane something came over me and I began to weep. I learned later that it was the Holy Spirit. They gave me a standing ovation in the after that number which was in the middle of the performance and afterwards the Director, Dr. Milton Johnson told me that was an unforgettable performance. i told him it wasn't me and that I was not acting which he didn't understand. For the rest of the tour I kept to myself and would not talk with anyone. I was the son of an army Captain and i cried on stage! After returning from tour, they heard me screaming and wrestling with the Lord in my room all night. In the morning I came out a born again believer. I am an active teacher of voice and 12 other instruments and am glad to discuss how to sing better and increase your vocal range. Also my wife and I are fellow Christians who run a company called "American Music Academy" Please feel free to visit our site and contact us for questions about singing, playing your instrument, music theory and writing music. In His Service, your brother in Christ, David Moyer known also as Daveydoodles.

Hello. I play and sing. My major in college was voice and I have been teaching voice and speech for over 45 years.Today most people call speech- talking and voice-singing. i play guitar, bass, piano, flute, trumpet, saxophone, clarinet, Melodica, trombone, recorder, violin, and french horn. Do you play an instrument or more than one instrument? Please tell me what do you play. I teach by webcam or facetime as well as teaching in peoples homes. "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord!"

Hi Davey,

You will bump into a lot of musical people on this site.

I started at age 6 with a tin whistle and stylus phone. Don't know if you have seen one of those.

v0_master.jpg

Then progressed later to recorder, flute, guitar, keyboard, piano at one point.
Piano accordion, claranet for a short whole, borrowed oboe for a month.
Plus have tried our various African drums, rattles, banging things, shaky things. Lol

These days I stick to the saxophone (alto called George and Soprano called Midred).

All self taught, although I have done a few saxophone summer schools at my
local college of music.

Sight reading I can just about managed with. I never really got to grips with
sight reading much above level 4 as after a few minutes of playing I play by ear and
stop reading the music. Lol

Anyway welcome.

Anything really. I was on the worship team at church for 10 years but had to pull out due to
commitments at home. We have people from over 40 different nationalities so we get to try
out lots of different music styles, different instruments etc and we also incorporate songs
in different languages into the worship.

Daveydoodles,
Also, a bit random question for the violin.
I found that my rosin causes for a wierd sound. I'm searching for a better rosin. I am currently working on tone.
Do you have a recommendation?

I'd love to be able to sing well but it's just not in my list of talents haha
My old violin teacher even said that we play violin cuz we can't sing hahaha

just remember what scripture has to say about singing. Make a joyful noise unto the Lord. he does not say to make a beautiful singing sound. That is for some their talent. Gods' continued blessings as you serve him!

Your rosin my be too old. i recommend checking with your local symphony as to what the principle violinist uses and use that. Also, make sure you have the proper tension on your bow. In His Service, David Moyer
