Hello, everyone. My name is Cindi. I am a parent of 2 grown kids, have 4 grandkids and am the main caregiver for my Mom who is 77 and had a stroke in June. I am looking to chat with with other grandparents who are taking care of their parents.

I became a Christian in 1982 and have been keeping Him in my heart ever since. I don't get a chance to fellowship with others much since becoming my mom's caregiver. Maybe I will be able to start again through this site.

Thank you for the welcome, HisHolly. I am slowly reading through all the forums. And thank you for honoring the older age groups. Sometimes older people get pushed aside for people younger/more "trendy".

I was a caregiver to my late wife before she passed away so I know how hard this can be, especially working a full-time job too. Glad to have you as part of our family. Welcome to CC.

I have actually lived with my Mom since 2001 and worked on and off until 2015. Mom fell in February of 2015 and couldn't get up. Had to call 911 and she was diagnosed with a bleeding ulcer. I was put on-call status after that but they never called me back. In a way I'm glad about it because Mom didn't want a stranger in here when I had to work. My sister and I talked about it and she agreed that it would be better for me to be full-time caregiver. I do some medical transcription things at night and when I need to stop for a while I just let my boss know.

Hi Cindi - I'm new, too, and happy to "meet" you. :) I'm a grandma and see to my elderly mom. Also married and work full time. I know what you mean about having little time for fellowship, let alone your own interests. Hang in there, sweet lady, and may you be blessed in knowing that all you're doing does matter.

Hello, Ann and thank you for the welcome. You are busier than I am, though with being married and working full-time also. I sometimes feel like I'm pulled in several directions when I'm doing the medical transcription work but I just remember that my mom took care of me when I wasn't able too without any complaints - and she was a single parent too.

Yes, it's helpful to remember all that our mamas did for us. Mine was a single mom after we lost our dad, and she's never remarried.

Hugs and blessings to you today - and remember, His grace is sufficient!

Hi Cindi, I live in NC too.

Don't fit your requirements but just wanted to welcome you to CC hope you make friends. There are some great people here....but some not so nice ones too. "Ignore" and report option is sometimes a must if you pick up a stalker.

Thank you for the welcome and the prayers. My mom and I got lucky that we personally didn't suffer much damage - have a leak in the kitchen roof but that was it besides losing power and being trapped in our neighborhood until Tuesday AM. Other people in our neighborhood suffered so much more.
