Well I'm obviously new to this site, but I'm actually new to the christian world in general. I was not raised a believer exactly, I wasn't really raised religious at all. I was just taught to be a good person and treat people with respect, no religious side to that at all. Well I'm getting married now and my fiance is christian and has asked me to read the bible before we get married (153 days) but I have no clue where to start. We're in different time zones at the moment (I'm in the military) and so our schedules don't really allow for him to help me and so I figured maybe a chat group like this may help me make sense of this religion and how people have such strong beliefs. I'm not opposed to becoming a believer but I'm just not sure where to start.......... I guess I'll see if this works.

Hello Evici and welcome aboard CC. :)

I advise you to start reading the first Gospel.. This is called the Book of Matthew or just Matthew. There are 4 accounts of the teachings of Jesus.. Matthew Mark Luke and John all 4 of them are together in the Bible.. After the 4 Gospels i recommend continuing to read all the books after the 4 Gospels starting with the Book of Acts.. Depending on your reading speed this might take a week or a month.. If you really want to understand and you are the type of person to spend time pondering and investigating things it might take you more then a few months..

But anyway Glad you have come to CC. And i am more them willing to receive messages from you about any questions you may have about what you are reading.. CC has a private message system for such correspondence..

Another point.. The variance in views and different interpretation of the Bible teachings in CC is very broad so do not get stressed when you get responses from different members about the same passage of the Bible..

Also there are one or two non- Christians in here posting replies to topics and they could reply to you with a non-Christian answer.. It's one of the negatives of CC that peoples religious affiliation or lack there of is not displayed on their posts..

Ok then... Yep that's it.. I hope the experience of reading the Bible is a thought stimulating and interesting experience for you.And may you be blessed with understanding whilst you are reading. :)

Welcome to Christian Chat, Evici.

The easiest thing to do, I would say, is start at the beginning and read it straight through. You sort of get it in the order that it happened, that way. If there is an Apocrypha in your Bible, you might skip that for now.

As for not knowing where to start on your spiritual walk I would do as it says in the first sentence in the bible in the book of Genesis, "In the beginning...". Take it one day at a time and one step at a time. Congrats on getting married and hoping that you and your husband to be put God in the center of your marriage. Glad to have you as a member of our family. Welcome to CC.
