When I was younger I was told there was a god and I just accepted that. I never asked any questions. Over the years I have started questioning a lot of things. Mainly my own political and religious views. Ive noticed I feel so much better depending on myself instead of just praying for things to happen in my life. Things also actually get done. I wont say the fact prayer does not work for me is proof that god does not exist but it makes a feller think about things differently. My life has really improved since I stopped believing in god. I personally have nothing against religion other than when it is used to inflict pain on others. Like what is going on in the United States. I truly believe the world would be a better place without religion. Look at how many wars have been fought over differing ideas. How many people have died because of this. I look forward to chatting with you folks, thanks for having me.

But if you follow the Lord's commandments and walk with him all the time, he solves all your problems.

“You know the commandments: `Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honor your father and mother.'” Luke 18:20 RSV

I'm the one being aggressive?

You just came to a Christian forum and said,

"I truly believe the world would be a better place without religion."

I find the subject interesting as well as the people. As a pacifist I am just not into violence. I bet that will help you understand.

I admire the go and get things done kind of attitude and I am aware that religion has caused much bloodshed in history and my best friend even has said that the world would be better off without religion however sadly because of human nature things would remain the same. I have only seen three things in life turn a perfectly civil group of people into wild animals attacking each others throats religion football and politics. Honestly we humans are a young race we have so much to mature in if it isn't religion we would just find something else to slaughter each other over.

You know I see these movies and shows where humans get super powers and magic and stuff and I am thinking to myself I am really glad these things aren't real mankind cannot be trusted with such power.

Awesome to have you here on CC. On the issue of your personal choice you have made to not believe in God I look forward to having a worthy dialogue to suggest that there is ample evidence to believe in God and good reasons why one should. I could give you my story and others as well about how we all came to faith from all sorts of differing backgrounds and world views but its suffice to note that for any worth while conversation that is to be made it should be given with clarity and substantial evidence.

I agree the world would be better off without religion. Religion is all about rule and traditions and worshiping idol God's that you never get to know you never have an actual connection and relationship with them you have to have all kinds of laws and holy writings memorized to the T and many are never good enough and need to work severely to be able to go to any kind of eternal life.

Christianity- at least real Christianity is not religion is it?

Wow... it's amazing how many offensive comments you could pack into one post.

Excellent work.
:)

So... Christians in America are "inflicting pain on others"?

Why don't you unpack that for us.

Thanks Blain and NowYou for the welcoming posts. That was what I was hoping to receive.

I personally don't even look at it like a choice to not believe. I feel like a person either believes or they dont or maybe they kinda believe. In my mind it just doesn't make sense to me. Even at an early age it did not make sense to me.

You might have a point there, Jer.
so maybe the right thing to do would be to welcome him and try to educate him, which would bring glory to God instead of trying to run him out!! Shouldnt we be trying to bring souls to Christ? and not pushing people away? Especially someone who clearly is missing pieces of the puzzle with his comment " Are those different from the regular commandments?" It don't sound like he knows what is being talked about when commandments are mentioned.

Why would you find any of that offensive? Would you prefer I just not be honest? Ive come here to learn and partake in this forum. I just don't understand why you feel the need to bully me. I have a hard time feeling bad about expressing my views. I am sorry that they upset you so much.

Either a person believes, or they don't believe.. There's no "kinda" in the mix..

Well i agree they either believe or they do not. To me its more or less about which worldview makes the MOST sense given what it claims. The Christian Faith is the only world view whereby it best explains this world and reality and is consistent with every known field of study.

I might have to disagree, I have had discussions with people and have noticed they will often times say its better to believe so you don't end up in hell. That sounds more like fear to me. Which i guess is where the phrase fear of god comes from. I often think this is why people close to death find god. They might not truly believes but it gives them peace and that is very important for most people.
