So what Christians that follow god’s commandment do on daily basis to improve their relation to God through Jesus?

Perhaps the Apostle Paul gave the best advice when he said, “Pray constantly.” That in the book of 1 Thessalonians, chapter 5, verse 17 (1 Thess 5:17).

[SUP]I don't understand this interaction with the Fig tree .
12 [/SUP]The next day as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry. [SUP]13 [/SUP]Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs. [SUP]14 [/SUP]Then he said to the tree, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And his disciples heard him say it.

The story doesn't end there. Read till the end of the chapter.

I read the rest of that chapter but I don’t understand the example of the fig tree.
It was not in season and it doesn’t suppose to provide figs; this is the way god created nature. This is part of my Muslim background.

Hello Zohar,

It would be good for you to visit several churches to find one where you feel comfortable and also a Bible study group and be sure to take your wife with you. Hopefully, you and your wife will find a group where you will have good Christian fellowship.

Here on Christian Chat there are many caring people willing to answer your questions. Also there are probably many things that we can learn from you.

Zohar, it is really good to have you with us. Welcome.

I have trouble understanding that, too. Is it possible the story was told wrong? There is another like it here:

[18] In the morning, as he was returning to the city, he was hungry.
[19] And seeing a fig tree by the wayside he went to it, and found nothing on it but leaves only. And he said to it, "May no fruit ever come from you again!" And the fig tree withered at once.
[20] When the disciples saw it they marveled, saying, "How did the fig tree wither at once?"
[21] And Jesus answered them, "Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and never doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, `Be taken up and cast into the sea,' it will be done.
[22] And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith." Matt 21:18-22 RSV

This story doesn’t make sense; I understand that you have to have faith, what the fig tree have to do with faith.
Maybe there is another explanation

The Lord is smarter than us, so we aren't going to understand everything he says right away. Someday we will. Faith is important. If a mountain needs to be moved, the Lord will move it for us.

That is problems how do we know when we apply faith and when are we going to apply our common sense.

Maybe this Scripture will help:

Then the devil took him to the holy city and placed him on the pinnacle of the temple, saying to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down; for it is written,
‘He will command his angels concerning you,’
and ‘On their hands they will bear you up,
so that you will not dash your foot against a stone.’”
Jesus said to him, “Again it is written, ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’” Matt 4:5-7 NRSV

I understand this Scriptures to explain that although a person believe in god and follow god’s commandment he maybe encounter hard life. Do not expect god to reword you but stay strong and continue believing.

Actually, the Lord does reward us, but it can take time. Life has it's challenges, but when we obey his commandments, life is a whole lot easier and more rewarding.

I had a visit today, a group calling themselves a Jehovah witnesses come to talk to me. They said that they don't believe in the Trinity.
Any comment?

Hello Zohar,

I believe at this point you should move your chatting to a different "room". You will get more responses.

Go to the top left hand corner of this page and click/touch "Christian Chat Rooms". Then on this new page click/touch "Bible Discussion Forum" about the 4th one down. Then on Bible Discussion Form click/touch "Speak Your Mind" which is about the 13th one down. Introduce yourself and then ask your question.

These people will be interested in your questions and will be able to help you out. I will also try to answer some of your questions.

Zohar, we want to help you and of course be your friends.

Zohar, I would recommend that you find another group to associate with. The Trinity is very real and exists within us our whole lives.
