I like to introduce myself to all members. I was born in Egypt to a devout Muslim family. until I went to the University of Cairo to study engineering. While at the university I mate a group of Christians studying and one of them was the women that become my wife. We had to keep our relation a secret because of my family did not approve. Upon completing my study I moved to Germany converted to Christianity and married the woman of my dream.

I couldn’t study much about Christianity in Egypt because it’s a Muslim country and Christian schools are not available. I have many questions about Jesus and Christianity but my wife don’t really studied she just practice the rituals. Many times I’ll ask her questions and she’ll respond with “I don’t know I just do it.

Hey! The way I see Christianity is that God is perfect. That means his love is perfect, but his justice for sin is also perfect. That means any sin you commit will never be able to get past an infinitely holy God. The wages of sin is death. But God provided a sacrifice for us, to pay the wages for sin that we could never pay, and to satisfy the perfect justice of God. Jesus is the only way to the Father. Without Jesus, we would have died in our sins. If you have any questions at all, please ask!

My first question is about food, in the Old Testament god instruct the Israelite not to eat pork. Why it is that Christians eat pork? And when it became okay to eat Pork?

Hello zohar,

The food law was apart of the laws given by God through Moses to Israel. When Christ appeared as man, he met the righteous requirements of the law, satisfying God's requirements. The church is not under the law, but under a new covenant, lead by the Spirit. Believers in Christ are credited with righteousness through faith in Christ. In fulfilling the law, Christ rescued us from the curse of the law, which could never save anyone. The purpose of the law was to show people their sins. But the law was designed to last only until the coming of Christ.

We are not under the food law or any of the laws of Moses. For
God saved us by his grace when we believed. And we can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.
Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.

I hope that this was of benefit

That's really good question! In the New Testament, after Jesus had come, there is absolutely no restriction on food. Look at Acts 10: 10-15, "Peter became hungry and wanted something to eat, and while the meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance. He saw heaven opened and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners. It contained all kinds of four-footed animals, as well as reptiles and birds. Then a voice told him, “Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.”“Surely not, Lord!” Peter replied. “I have never eaten anything impure or unclean.” The voice spoke to him a second time, “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.”

Jesus even talked about that nothing you eat will defile you, but it is what comes out of your mouth that will defile you. The main goal for the Christian is to know Christ, and the power of his resurrection.

I am not really sure why pork was restricted in the first place by God, but Jesus declared that you will not be defiled by anything that goes into you.

Interesting point and very true “Jesus even talked about that nothing you eat will defile you, but it is what comes out of your mouth that will defile you.”
BTW the reason I asked is because I grew up Muslim and Muslim don’t allow eating pork. The pig eat anything, even dead bodies and that is one of the reasons.

I am sure you don’t mean to eliminate all the laws such as don’t murder, adultery,,,,,
But you also said “The purpose of the law was to show people their sins.”
What sins are you referring to?

Jesus is God in flesh. We need to obey him. There are no perfect churches. Find one you like, but make sure you are obeying the Lord's commandments.

I am still learning about the Lord’s commandments; I was told that by one of this group that “The church is not under the law, but under a new covenant, lead by the Spirit.”
In the Old Testament god’s commandments are clear but not always easy to follow.
perhaps i need more studies, is there a book about the Lord's commandments other than the Old Testament?

I believe a lot of what you read in the Old Testament was meant for the Jews. These would be statutes and ordinances governing their religious practices.

The commandments would be those statements that apply to all of us. I think it's easy enough to tell the difference. For example, when he says, "Do not steal," certainly he's taking to all of us.

I think you will learn what you need to know from the Old and New Testaments. Start out with the New Testament. Read the book of Matthew all the way through and go from there.

Isn't it true that Christianity is base on the old testament? There is only one god and we all belong to him?

If anything, Christianity is based more on the New Testament than the Old. Jesus Christ is God in flesh. The first four books of the New Testament are about his life and teachings.
