Hi all and thank you for the welcome. I am an older Christian widow and I am not here to meet men, but to have more fellowship. My church is very small and we have few opportunities to get together so I could really use some new friends who are Christians. Thank you for accepting me.

I would specifically like to talk about church offerings but so far I don't know how to find a thread on that. Help!?

Do you feel that non-church members should be expected to tithe 10% when they have little or no money?
Sorry about the misspelling of tithe on my poll. I am new and don't know how to correct it.

Hi Avacal,

Welcome to CC.

What you can do is go the the bible discussion forum and begin a new thread about tithing. Bible Discussion Forum - Christian Chat Rooms & Forums

There towards the top left side it will say post new thread. Click on it and type away. :)

I do believe in giving cheerfully.
And I do believe in giving as a sacrifice.
But I don't believe that tithing is for today.

Welcome Avacal, as far as tithes goes give what God places in your heart to give. It should never come to a point where people are telling one another what they should give.

Thank you for your replies. I wholeheartedly agree with cheerful giving and I am beginning to believe that tithing was cancelled with Christ's crucifiction, that tithing was for the old testament only. But it is a new idea for me. Thanks again.

Is there a way to delete your poll once you have created it? Thank you for the tips.

This is an excellent site for Christian fellowship, meeting new people and forming enduring friendships. You can create your own thread and post in any forum but to get the most pertinent responses you may find the creating a thread in the Bible Discussion Forum would be appropriate. I must warn you though that sometimes the discussion can get quite heated. Glad to have you join us. Welcome to CC.

There is a 5 minute window to edit or delete a post. I assume that goes for polls too but I could be wrong.

****greetings from Texas----after 40 years of experience in tithing and not tithing---pay your tithes (it is a good way to stay out of debt)---if you are not a Church member maybe you could give some at Church and some for other ministries which are feeding you...

I think any Christian,, church member or not,, should give what is in their heart to give. For God loves a joyful giver.. Making some mandatory percentage is not right as far as the Word of God is concerned.

2 Corinthians 9:KJV
7 "Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver."

Ohh and i almost forgot..... Welcome aboard CC Avacal :) I hope you have a worthwhile time with us..
