We have a few Catholics around here who are going to be a bit upset because you said, "I was a Catholic before I became a Christian."

I was also a Catholic before and was baptized a Christian. It is fine to choose religion. God guided you to.
Remember there is no religion in Christ except to have a personal relationship with Him. :)
