Hello All
My name is Tom and I just signed up and this is my introductory post including the reason for my coming here.
After seeing this movie i went to youtube where I encountered quite alot of commentary, both pro and con and I don't know if I'm going to get booed or yelled at or complimented here...but here goes:
I am referring to the movie The Shack which I have now watched 4 times.
For some reason, for which I am grateful, this movie (the content thereof) has had a very profound impact on my spiritual being and awareness and I found it to be very inspirational...increasing my awareness and appreciation for God, Jesus and The Holy Spirit. I could not find any forums or chat about it here but nonetheless here is my post.
I am disappointed by the number of derogatory and negative accusations from supposed religious ministers and others claiming the movie to be anti-christian or blasphemous. A movie about LOVE, GOD, The Holy Trinity, Forgiveness, Compassion, wrongful judgement made from a book written by a loving father for his children that went from 15 hand- made copies to over 20,000,000 copies sold inspiring such goodness and Love towards loved ones, neighbors and even total strangers speaks for itself.

We do have a member here who has spoken positively for The Shack fairly extensively. Quite coincidentally, I just watched it last night with my daughter, though she is an agnostic and was not any where near as interested in it as I was. I found the movie incredibly moving, quite amusing/entertaining, and also a bit hokie. Christians probably complain about it because it does not portray God in a strictly Biblical way.

RE: Your comment: "Christians probably complain about it because it does not portray God in a strictly Biblical way".
I don't think that the way the movie portrays GOD should be the sole focus for finding "fault" with the movie, but rather the goodness that the movie promotes: Love, Forgiveness, Compassion, Non-Judgement of Others, Positive Relationship. That is the true purpose of the movie. The movie inspired me and led me to come here to Christian Chat to make new friends and relationships and rekindles my love and respect and better understanding of GOD.
