When you boil it all down it's rather simple. Heaven is where good people go. Hell is where evil people go. No one but God himself decides who goes where so there no need to go deeper than that.
Hi Jaydekay,
Welcome to CC!
How about beginning with the Genesis story of how Adam and Eve fell from God's grace through disobedience when they ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. You can explain how sin separates us from fellowship with God. Adam and Eve fell out of fellowship with God and now they needed a Savior.
I'm not sure how old your children are so that would be the deciding factor as to how much detail you'd want to give them.
The bible says that we all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
But God in His mercy made a way for us to be restored to fellowship and that's through Jesus our Savior who died on the cross as a sacrifice to forgive our sins so that we can have eternal life. By God's grace through faith we become children of God because through Adam's sin, all die, but through Jesus our sacrificial Lamb all will live who believe in Him by faith.
Ezekiel 18:23 Do I have any pleasure in the death of the wicked,” declares the Lord God, “rather than that he should turn from his ways and live?

No evil people go to hell. We can't determine who is what. Only God can. All good people go to Heaven. Simple as that, you can try and quantify who goes where. In the politest way it's above yours, mine and every other humans pay grade to say who goes where. That's the Lords decision.
To keep it simple I would say that some people want to go to heaven to be with Jesus and that some people don't really care about Jesus and they go to hell. If you go to church maybe they have a bible study you can attend and also study on your own as what you will learn will prove to be very important for you. Glad to have you join us. Welcome to CC.
M & M's melt in your mouth and not in your hands.
Hi jaydekaye, welcome to CC!
In order to understand how and why one goes to heaven or hell is essential when trying to understand it yourself, let alone explain it to your kids.
Here are some verses:
Romans 3:23
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The Bible teaches we are sinners worthy of death and judgement for our wrongs. God however, in his mercy, provides a way to avoid judgement (hell). By his son Jesus' substitutionary death on the cross, Jesus took God's just wrath upon himself. If we count on Jesus' sacrifice to justify us before God, then we become pardoned and gain the free gift of salvation. At this point we cross over from death to life (MT 5:24) and surely will dwell with God in Paradise (heaven).
There is only one way: Jesus(John 14:6)
The good life is the one that's been laid down
Verses about heaven and hell: Rev 21:4-8; 22:4-7, Mt 13:42, Luke 13:29-30
The good life is the one that's been laid down
Hi Kingdom,
What I mean is that there are some pretty evil people that later were born-again. People doing evil today can change tomorrow while a so-called good person can change and be pretty evil. What we determine as evil or good isn't God's measuring stick. These don't determine our future home. Whether or not we've been born again or not does.
1 John 5:11-13
And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.
Ezekiel 18:23 Do I have any pleasure in the death of the wicked,” declares the Lord God, “rather than that he should turn from his ways and live?
Welcome here you can discuss with bible smart people and possibly make new friends, hope you like it here!
If you would like to gt more info than you really need on this topic, open a tread and start asking questions in it. There is one thing I can say fo sure, people on here are not shy and are always willing to help with questions about all kinds of thing. Keep in mind that we all have different back grounds, and see things a little deferentially. This in no way any one more right then the other, it simply means that we see things a bit differently. That in my mind is what helps ever the most learned student grow in their understanding.
Enjoy your time on here, it will be fun, and never boring.
we were asked to pray for 2 thing in the Word, do we pray them?
Psa 122:6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.
Mat.9:38
Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.
Covered everything I needed too. Otherwise I am just doing what I said we aren't qualified to do which is assume we know who is "good" and who is "evil". But I will say some of the most horrific people I have ever met were as you called it "saved" and some of the greatest have been as I dare say who you would categorise as "unsaved". Don't want to exhaust this topic out so that's where I shall end my own interest in it.
Gob bless
Welcome to Christian Chat, Jaydekay. Opinions about heaven and hell differ. I would say heaven is what our lives turn into when we obey the Lord’s commandments. I would offer this scripture as evidence:
From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."
Matthew 4:17 RSV
I agree and I am working on teaching myself and taking in everything I can all support offered
they are 7 and 11 so not babies and always read the bible but they ask me and im
ashamed I don't know answers they want to know where it actually is is hell under earth and allsort of far fetched things I can't comprehend yet
we were asked to pray for 2 thing in the Word, do we pray them?
Psa 122:6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.
Mat.9:38
Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.
Thankyou for taking the time to reply appeciated
