Hello everyone!
My name is Amber, nearly 30 years old from Michigan, United States. I have been a Christian for about 8 years. Grew up in a neutral family as far as religion goes; wasn't forced one way or another, to believe or not believe. I was struggling with bitterness towards someone in my family because of an addiction. When I was in the midst of it, a friend invited me to church and there God changed my heart and I came to believe & trust in the Gospel of Jesus. I have been growing in my faith and attending church ever since.

My mother ended up getting cancer and dying on Easter of this year. It was only about 2 months from the time we discovered she had cancer to the time she died and only 5 days from the time we knew she would not live. So I have been struggling with grief for the past 3 months and had been very unfocused. I was still attending church, trying to read, etc. but felt like I was in a fog. However, this past week God has been pulling me out of it and strengthening my desire to grow, be faithful, and know more of Christ. So, even though I have many great brothers and sisters in Christ I am just wanting to meet new people to interact with, be encouraged by, and hopefully encourage. Thanks for your time and can't wait to meet you!

Hello Amber. I grew up in Michigan and left in 1985 for Florida. Sorry to hear about your mother. My dad passed away from cancer in 2008 and there is indeed a grieving process that must be endured by the grace of God. Hopefully, you will find comfort, support and understanding from the members of this community. Glad to have you join us. Welcome to CC.

Hello Amber and welcome to CC! I'm sure you will meet many kind people here and make friends of those with whom you "click".

I am so terribly sorry for your pain of the loss of your mother and the grief which struck the moment you were informed of her prognosis. You're very young to be losing your mother so soon. :( This is the awkward moment when words seem shallow and empty of any consolation... so I am just going to say I truly pray for God's "soul peace" to fill you and heal the sorrow of your heart. One thing is for certain... you can confidently believe He's closer than your own breath and His heart beats along with your own. ~ Sometimes trying to read His word in times of deep grief is difficult, but taking solace in alone time with Him is ALWAYS a lovely place to be...and I believe that is where He wants us to come anyway. To Him. Close enough to feel Him envelope you with His love... and close enough to hear the beat of His own heart for you. His words spoken to you from His own lips reach deeper than His written word sometimes. I pray you find comfort in those precious moments~~~

Hi Amber, welcome to Christian Chat.

I'm sorry to hear about your mother; my mother passed away due to cancer as well.

Hang in there, God will carry through this season. It may have taken a while, but I was actually able to thank God for the year my mom was sick. If it weren't for that trial, I wouldn't be as dependant on My Savior as I am now. Be encouraged, God is going to use this time to strengthen your hope in him (Romans 5:3-5)!

God bless

Thank you so much. These are not empty words at all, I so much appreciate them. I understand what you mean about it feeling that way and yes sometimes it does. But then after a while I look/think back at all the cards, texts, conversations & know that I am loved by the amazing people God has placed in my life for this time in my life. So although we are practically strangers we are family in the Lord and are called to comfort one another and you have.
