Hey there everyone I'm new to the group. I have been a Christian since I was 16. There has been a lot of changes in my life and have finally have a wonderful husband after going through a bad marriage and divorce from my previous marriage.

Financial we have been through a lot recently and stress has been at a all time high. We are getting back on the right track now but with all the stress comes wanting to drink more alcohol..

A lot of times I can stay away from it but when I do drink I drink to excess. It scares me and I am looking for guidance.

Hi Nina...Well i am nearly an ex binge drinker , and i say nearly because i will never be quiet sure if our heavenly Father will take this addiction from me completely, but what i can say is this...I used to drink at weekends only, then i started drinking a few strong cans in the week, then i was going pubs on any days, all while i was raising my children, i can blame it all on the situations of my life, burying my hurt in alcohol, treating alcohol as my friend in need untill it became my worst enemy...Two years ago when the Lord saved me i was broken in spirit, mentally sick and on my own with the bottle, evenings singing a long to the sad songs that made me want to drink more, falling on the floor because i was to drunk to walk so i crawled to the bathroom to be sick and often missed the bowl, i cried out to God many times in my drunken stupor begging Him not to take me because i did not want to die like that, i hated EVERYTHING about alcohol and still drank. Then with the grace of God over these past two years He has brought me out from them times, the urge to drink can still come, but the gaps are getting further and further away, i say pray, pray and never stop praying, i hope this has helped...xox...

Hello Nina, welcome to CC! I hope you enjoy your time with us :)

Are there any AA meetings near where you live? I would suggest that. They
have helped me and millions of others kick the soul destroying, cunning,
baffling, and powerful enemy of life to the curb with the help of God.

***greetings from Texas***find a way to cope with the stress other than alcohol, it could lead you astray...
