John 3:16 Does it or does it not mean the whole world, or is it talking about certain people?

Are we all children of God or only some of us?

Please give me your thoughts.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. - John 3:16

Yes, God sent His Son for the whole world, but that doesn't mean the whole world will be saved. God wants us all to be saved, He is not willing that any should perish (2 Peter 3:9) but He also gives us the choice. He gives everybody who wants to accept it Salvation from damnation free of charge, because we could never earn or deserve it. However, He will not force Salvation on us, we must choose to accept His gift and His offer of eternal life.

How many meanings are there for the word "world", you have the animal world, you have the world of sports, you have sea world, and you have Disney world as you can see there are many different meanings of the word world. 1st John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. Here is another meaning of world. I think when He said in John 3:16, He's talking to certain people not all people.

He is talking about loving all people no matter where you are in the world... God loves everyone sinners to saints. He will save the people in the whole world that believe in him and that Jesus Died on the cross to cleanse our sins. Now just because God loves everyone sinners and all does not mean they will all go to heaven. He will only bring home to heaven the true believers of the word and the people who truly believe in him and worship him and only him.

1st John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. This part is talking more about do not be so in love with worldly things for they are to pass meaning don't be so intertwined with worldly goods that you forget to pray and worship the lord. For all things here on earth are just a moments worth of happiness compared to the worldly goods and happiness you will have once you are in Heaven. He does not want people to get so wrapped up in this world and forget about the heavenly earth that is to come.

All of us who believe are children of God. Whoever believes in God's Son will have eternal life. (Taken straight from John 3:16)

God so loved the world (everyone), but that does not mean that the whole world will believe. So every person in the world is not a child of God.

So basically, God gave the opportunity of salvation to everyone, through believing. Some of us will believe. Those of us that believe are God's children and will have eternal life.

John 3: KJV
16 "¶ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Only those who believe in Him should not perish but have eternal life..

Do people believe Jesus?

Do they trust in the Atonement He secured for the forgiveness of their sins and their eternal salvation?

Are we all Children of God?

I don't think so...

Are you a Child of God?

Read His Word and find out..

Please give me scriptures 1 Peter 4:11 KJV - 11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

In John 3:1who is Jesus talking too, is he not talking to an Israelite?

John 3:14 who was in the wilderness with Moses? it was the Israelites.

The precept to John 3:16 Is Isa 45:17

Isaiah 45:17 But Israel shall be saved in the LORD with an everlasting salvation: ye shall not be ashamed nor confounded world without end.

John 3:16 Is not talking about the entire world.

To get into the kingdom of heaven this is what needs to be done

Matt. 19:16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
Matt. 19:17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

You can believe all you want but that's why the scripture say

James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

If you disagree please bring scriptures. I welcome the debate.

Proverbs 25:9 Debate thy cause with thy neighbour himself; and discover not a secret to another:

Welp, I guess you were deceived.

Next time, why not just show up and state your beliefs? Why pretend to be confused and concerned? Confused, concerned people don't invite debate.

The title was not pretending or confusion, it's the truth. I thought like most of the people here John 3:16 meant the whole world. I was deceived just like 90% of the people. I asked people to prove all things by scriptures.

You say God sent His Son for the whole world, is that biblical because I've never seen that in the bible. I believed that also, until I was challenged to read what the scriptures are truly saying.

Matthew 1:21 KJV - 21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Luke 1:68 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people,

Matthew 15:24 KJV - 24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

Luke 1:69 And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David;

John 18:20 KJV - 20 Jesus answered him, I spake openly to the world; I ever taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, whither the Jews always resort; and in secret have I said nothing.

Acts 5:31 KJV - 31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

Revelation 7:4 KJV - 4 And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.

Revelation 21:12 KJV - 12 And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:

He only came for His people Israel

Matt 10:5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:

Matt 10:6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

These scriptures are the word of God. As TMH says

2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

2 Timothy 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works

Isaiah 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

If you read the bible for yourself and forget about what your preachers are brainwashing you to believe, your eyes will be opened. Remember Jesus told Peter to stay awake, we have fallen asleep and allowed these preachers to guide us into condemnation.

Matt 26:40 And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?

Matt 26:41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

I can tell your preacher have never showed you these scriptures without his spin on them.
John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

In John 3:1 Who was he talking too, a Pharisees named Nicodemus a ruler of the Jews. John 3:14-15 Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness for who to look upon on, the children of Israel. John 3:17 Only the Israelites is who he came for. Isaiah 45:17 A world without end.

Please give me scriptures to prove your belief.
