Hello,
Brand new to this forum, should be fun.

I tried to use the 'ol chat room thingy that you guys have and it is saying that i need to download a program for me to use it.

did you guys have to download the program to use the chat room?

I downloaded it, clicked on the program i downloaded in my downloads folder and nothing happened. the program doesn't seem to be working.

Anyhoo, yes the app has to be downloaded first. This site is currently under construction. Maybe try disabling your anti-virus first and try re downloading the app again..

What you see on the front page is the old chat app. So, yes, everyone needs to install the new chat app.
As you may have noticed on the front page the site is being moved around. It may be that there are some issues installing the chat until the changes are complete. I'm not sure.
But some others have had issues installing as well. Clarifying what you're using (Mac/PC) may (or may not) help others provide a solution.
But, yes, this is the section for introductions so people with knowledge may not come here to answer tech questions. I'd suggest browsing the first two pages of our User2User Tech section for existing posts on the problem to see if a solution has been provided. If not then posting the question there may warrant more success in getting answers, assuming anyone has one.
Some have had to disable their antivirus to make it work, but if nothing happens at all when clicking the installer I don't believe that's an antivirus issue. It may be that you need to try and download the installer again. Delete the first one. If that doesn't work then hangout here in the forums until the site transfer is done and try again.

I have not been in the chat room for months so i don't really know all the stuff you have to go through to get into it these days.. Sorry..
