This poem is my life story in this i share my life hope you like the poem
Running the Race
My race began for me over 40 years ago
I was 17 fit and slim and ran toe to toe
My hair was blond and long down to my shoulders
I was full of life back then a real goer
Running the race takes it out of you there are no breaks
The steep hills turn’s your face blue it lasts as long as it takes
I thought I knew life I know how this goes
That was back when I wore a younger mans clothes
I have seen them come and seen them go
Many have fallen many run very slow
Some stand by the way side dead in there tracks
Some have died left the race by heart attacks
I have ran through the valley of divorce
I cried and cried till I was hoarse
The pain of a marriage that’s died
How much more could I have tried?
The Valley of death is the hard one to run through
You get lost in the mists and you lose some truth
Part of your soul dies in there
All you can do is run and stare
I’m running with bare feet all blooded now
My running shoes gone I lost them some how
The pace is sore and I have fallen so much
I take my breath using a tree as a crutch
With a runner share a drink called loneliness
It’s not good but its better than drinking alone
The field is empty and the race goes on
Your alone again everyone has gone
The stone throwers always line this way
Stones hits me I’m sure there in Satan’s pay
They cause you to stumble and fall
They laugh at your pain and have a ball
Knee’s cut blood running down your legs
Why do they do this is it to see you beg?
We run this race till we die
On my word that’s is no lie
So why on earth do I run this race??
It’s to look into his eyes and see His face!!!
Ok Sam lets get going lets jog for a while
Let’s see if we can finish this race in good style
This is not my second wind that went long ago
So we pick up the pace “You ok there Bro”?
We will both finish this race and claim our prize
We will simply run into heaven on the day we die
THE END
