I've been lurking for a few days, and posted a few times. I guess I should finally "introduce" myself. :)

My name is Jen, I'll be 25 in October, and I live in the U.S. Right now, I still live at home because I'm broke, lol. I graduated three years ago from college with a degree in marketing, but after getting a job I realized that it wasn't for me. So, I am now pursuing becoming a teacher. People told me for years that I should, but I guess I was just too thick to listen. I just sort of shrugged my shoulders and continued on. I've been a substitute teacher the past two years, but even with a 4-year degree they pay very little. I make just enough to pay my bills and save enough so that I can pay them over the summer months here, when I'm not working. I've taken the test and passed it, which allows me temporary certification. The purpose of temporary certification is to allow you to be hired for a teaching position and earn both experience and a salary while you finish the requirements to get your professional certification. Unfortunantly, right before I was to take the test, the county decided that they weren't going to hire anyone now unless they have their professional certification (which makes temporary certification pointless). And I cannot afford to go through the courses to get my professional certification on the little that I make as a substitute. So, I'm currently looking for a job that will pay me a bit more, so that I can save to go through the courses. I haven't found one yet, so I have signed up to substitute teach again until I do. I'm praying to find one soon. I'm just waiting for God to show me an open door.

I decided to join, because I do spend a lot of time at home (which is inevitable when you have no money to spend), and I wanted to enjoy fellowship with some brothers and sisters. :) Sundays keep me busy, with church in the morning and Bible study in the evening, and on Wednesdays I work with the youth group at my church (one kid last night guessed I was 19...which I guess is better than the normal guess of 16, usually coupled with the question "What grade are you in?"). But, the rest of the time, I'm at home. I do have some past-times to keep me busy, and wading through postings on job sites has taken some time. But it's also nice to chat with others, and most people here seem very light-hearted and fun.

So, anyway, I'm glad to be here! :)
