Gen 2:16 KJV - And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:

Gen 2:17 KJV - But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Notice the wording here.

Gen 3:2 KJV - And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
Gen 3:3 KJV - But of the fruit of the tree which [is] in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

First of all, God never told Adam, "neither shall ye touch it".
Second of all, God didn't tell Eve she would die.

1Ti 2:14 KJV - And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

Eve was not deceived by the serpent. She was deceived by Adam. Adam was the one who told Eve not to eat or touch the fruit or she would die. Eve's transgression was taking the word of Adam, and not turning to God.

Job 31:33 KJV - If I covered my transgressions as Adam, by hiding mine iniquity in my bosom:

Adam's iniquity was wanting to keep the woman in the garden. His transgression was telling her falsely, she would die.

And now the kicker:

Gen 3:4 KJV - And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
Gen 3:5 KJV - For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

To know good and evil, is a good thing. How else can we discern between the two? If we don't know evil, we can't avoid it, or confront it.

So why is it that Satan would want them to eat of the fruit?

Lol I think you might of posted in the wrong section

Adam's iniquity was wanting to keep the woman in the garden. His transgression was telling her falsely, she would die.
Could you be so kind to show us the scripture where “Adam to her she would die if she ate the fruit”?? Or are you simply assuming this?

The Genesis account says that Eve replied to Satan “... Of the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat. 3 But as for [eating] of the fruit of the tree that is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘YOU must not eat from it, no, YOU must not touch it that YOU do not die.’” (Gensis 3:2,3)

So her saying this shows that God too must of told her the law at some point. For some reason, maybe Gods Patience or the marriage arrangement of them being one, God allowed Adam to be tested and it wasn't until he ate it both their eyes were opened. However If God only laid down the rule not to eat the fruit to Adam, as you claim, then it would be unfair for God to give Eve the same capital punishment as Adams.

You need to remember the account of Genesis was written for us by Moses and every detail of it isn’t explained to us. For instance you point out that God didn’t say “that you can’t touch the fruit”, whilst this is correct, from what Eve said (“God has said.. YOU must not touch it that YOU do not die") we can understand that God obviously did say this but it just wasn’t recorded down that he said those actual words when he said the law to Adam, however Eve’s reply to Satan confirms that God did actually say it.

This happens all the time in the Bible, for example when you compare the apostle books according to what they saw whilst with Jesus their stories vary, one might mention something during a certain event, eg Jesus arrest and the slave ear being cut off and being healed, One Bible book will have it whilst the other leaves out that particular detail. So even though one doesn’t say it, the other apostles words confirm that it did infact happen. This is the same thing you’ve gotten confused with at Genesis 3.

Marks Account leave the detail out. (Mark 14:47, 48) "...However, a certain one of those standing by drew his sword and struck the slave of the high priest and took his ear off. 48 But in response Jesus said to them: “Did YOU come out with swords and clubs as against a robber to arrest me..?"

Luke account adds the detail in. (Luke 22:51) "...But in reply Jesus said: “LET it go as far as this.” And he touched the ear and healed him..."

Adam's iniquity was wanting to keep the woman in the garden. His transgression was telling her falsely, she would die.
This is not true, as you rightly said Eve was thoroughly deceived by Satan the Devil, but “Adam was not deceived,” says the apostle Paul. (1Ti 2:14) With full knowledge Adam willfully and deliberately chose to disobey and then as a criminal he tried to hide. When brought to trial, instead of showing sorrow or regret or asking for forgiveness, Adam attempted to justify himself and pass the responsibility off on others, even blaming Jehovah for his own willful sin. “...The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit from the tree and so I ate...” (Gen 3:7-12) So as for Adam trying to cover his transgression as Job 31:33 says, he was trying to blame it on Eve and God, his transgression wasn't however, "telling her falsely, [that] she would die" as you have assumed.

So your question, why is it that Satan would want them to eat of the fruit?

Simple, he was challenging Gods right of rulership and calling him a liar at the same time.
