Best place to start, The book of John in the Bible... I loved that book, then Acts and Romans were so Good.... Then I read all the way up to Revelations, Didn't read revelations but I started from the front of the new testament in Matthew... Read all the way back to John.... Now I have read Genesis and half of Exodus in about 10 days... The New testament took me 2-3 months to read fully (Not including revelations).

Once you get hooked... Put on your seatbelt...

Oh wow really? I try to read the Bible but I get so confused and I have to stop because I feel like it's wrong to read the Bible when you don't understand it. My main problem is that I keep making the same mistake over and over again. I stop but then I swear I have "the love of my life" and start all over again. I get worried that I'm such a bad Christian that God will give up on me or something.

I'm not exactly sure what you're saying but it's a good idea to pray before reading the Bible, that your eyes and heart will be open to the Holy Spirit and what he reveals through God's Word. Then follow a plan, something similar to what T_Laurich suggested (John is an excellent start). Leave Revelations until you've read the rest of the Bible.

I was the same way, i just couldn't comprehend. But it depends on what Bible version you are reading as well. I say start with the New Testament Bible, NIV . I don't know your age, but you should invest in a study bible. My dad had bought me a teen study Bible, when I was younger. Start from the beginning. And you have to be consistent. Try reading it everyday start with 5mins and gradually work you way up to an 1hr a day. I notice when I am not consistent and not reading my Bible I start to "fall off". You'll notice a big change when you start reading your Bible. I defiantly have.

I know many here are against non KJV (King James version) Bibles.... But I would highly suggest the NLT (NEW LIVING Translation) Bible... The way I look at it, KJV was interpreted for the middle age peoples... We no longer use their words just like they no longer read in the original language the Bible was written...

I bought my Bible at Hastings, it was $20 and is small enough to take anywhere... I have taken it to school, on road trips, even stuck it in my pockets a few times...

There is no point in reading something that you can not comprehend... But I do agree the KJV Bible does have a nice poetic feel to it...

Also there are bibles dedicated to new believers specifically... Such as this one which helped me so much I can't even begin to explain how much...

Yes, the NLT is a good translation. Easy to read and well-written. It's more true to the spirit of the original texts than word-for-word but still it's still God's Word (and an enjoyable read). The NRSV is a more literal translation but a slightly more difficult read.

When you can understand the bible, it will be God giving you the understanding.

I was 18 and doing well in college but couldn't figure out the bible. I made myself read a chapter every night, anyway. One night something supernatural happened and I could suddenly understand. I looked at the clock and it was 8:12 in the evening. I am 88, now, and it is still a vivid memory.

For me it happened as I read the Sermon on the Mount that starts in Matthew chapter 5. Lots of people had followed Christ out in the country and this is the sermon Christ gave them.
