My name is Courtney and I am from North Carolina. I am a preacher's daughter, and I have been in church all my life. I found this site in hopes that I could talk to others elsewhere that share The Faith. Anywho, hello and I am glad to be here.

Sincerely,
me

Anywhere, a bunch of Protestants congregate, there is bound to be some degree of bickering, which is sad. However, I am not here to argue over doctrinal issues or even mild Biblical issues. I am simply here to make acquaintances, and to find out some things about Christians anywhere outside the South of the USA.

Isn't this simply true of people in general, regardless of beliefs? I don't see this as isolated to protestants. Other religions may seem to have less bickering, but they also fall under being dictated by a person, or a majority. Or have such a vague set of beliefs there isn't anything to disagree about. This leaves Christians in the middle, with not having a person/group dictating what we believe, but with a set of beliefs that are not entirely vague. Puts things in an area where there is just enough leeway to leave things open for disagreement, but a belief that truth is not relative. So we all know there is one truth, just not enough of it is clear for us to agree which is the true truth.

Yes, but I was referring to the fact that Christians should not have to bicker. In the grand scheme of things, we are not to bicker, but we (rather than the rest of the world) are supposed to be in unity under Christ. The whole of society, because of the individual differences, will always find something to argue over, but Christians are supposed to rise above it. The Bible commands that we do so, in order for the power of God to work among us at Its full capacity. Not that the power of God is limited, but a house divided cannot stand. So as the house, Christians divided are weak.
Now, in conclusion, not all seek truth. Some have been blinded by unbelief. Some have been made to believe a lie. And some are at the thresh hold of truth. However, I am fully convinced that no one on earth has it all correct. From Jesus' time until now, the truth has been twisted and maimed until we stand arguing that each other is wrong, when we never stop to think that we may be missing something. If even a group of 12 had the full understanding of the truth, our world would be shaken by a power such as has not been seen since the time of Pentecost. But the world rolls on and we argue. We have a ways to go.
That is all I have to say on the matter. But anywho, thank you for listening.

Bickering means arguing about trivial or unimportant things, which is very subjective. I don't find some of the finer points of theology very interesting but that doesn't make them trivial. I know a lot of people think that arguing about current events is useless because it has no effect on their personal lives. Other people think that exclusively concerning yourself about things that effect your personal life is selfish. A good number of people will think my making this distinction is trivial and unimportant. Unity might sound like a nice ideal, but this is only the case if you think the issue is trivial, because then compromise isn't a big deal, but you wouldn't want compromise on the important things.
