Hi :) I'm new as of today. I don't really like chat forums or anything but this is a different case!. I grew up in church and always believed in God but never followed as I should as a teenager. Id always say i was a Christian but my actions didn't truly show it. I knew what i should be doing but it wasn't my priority. I always want good for people and I try to be the best I can. I have a lot of vices, and lately I've been trying to almost.. Make a life change. I'm trying to be healthier, I don't drink anymore- if anything one glass of wine, and I'm just trying to be the best me I can. In everything. But when I pray to Him, I don't feel.... Connected. I know He is there. I KNOW He is. I know He is the way, but I can't seem to feel... I don't know. The way I should. I want to follow Him so bad.. But I just don't know how. I've been reading my Bible more and more & as I do, and I feel something. It is powerful. I need guidance. I don't really know what my question is. I just want to be a happy Christian who puts all her faith and problems to God and that's it. No questions, no worrying, just letting God take over. Well i guess no one is worry free but you know what i mean... Any advice is so welcome... Thanks :)

Greetings Kid Syd.

I grew up as a church member going to church, but unsaved myself. I (like the demons) believed in God, that He existed. I even believed in "accepting Christ."

"I've been trying to"

I remember trying to be good, and frustrated at not succeeding. For one has to be transformed by a new birth before it is possible to do good.

It is great that you read the Bible, because faith comes by hearing the Word of God.

You would like "No questions, no worrying, just letting God take over."

The Lord Jesus is certainly willing to change you, make you a child of God, forgive yours sins and give you the gift of eternal life. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved. Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. He is the God man who loves you and died on the cross to pay for your sins -- then He rose from the death.

You may call out in faith: "Lord Jesus please save me now, make me a child of God, change me, give me your gift of eternal life. I do now trust you as my only & sufficient Savior and I depend on Your death on the cross as complete payment for all my sins."

Of course that does not mean that all your troubles are over in this life, nor does it guarantee a sinless life! But it means you will have the power of the Holy Spirit in you to please God. Good works are the fruit of the Holy Spirit. Trying to be good otherwise, is futile.

Welcome to the forums.

I think it is GREAT that you are being HONEST and reaching out. You MUST be with other STRONG and SUPPORTIVE believers. PROPER TEACHING IS ESSENTIAL. It helps one to believe. One thing I think is also ESSENTIAL is that you learn how to pray and RECEIVE RESULTS. And I mean CONCRETE results so that you will KNOW that God heard your prayer and responded. In fact, when and as one properly prays, God moves all of heaven and earth to bring YOUR prayer to pass. That is what is meant in the 'Our Father' by... "Thy Will be done on Earth as it (already) is in Heaven.". Because when and as one prays, what they pray for 'becomes' in the Supernatural... and next must manifest in the natural.
I think alot of Christians do not know how to pray properly. When done properly, the answer is always 'YES". First prayers which I teach typically manifest in the natural between hours and days. Then one must build up their FAITH for larger prayers. Maybe I should do a write-up on this website.

I was told once that if your faith is real then it was wood, full of bumps snd lumps not smooth like plastic. Your a growing tree, your faith is strong. Sometimes we all feel the need to reconnect. I call out to god all the time. Relax in the arms of the lord. Perhaps this may help, do you have some one you love perhaps a family member that lives far away but you do not contact very often? Wellyou know they still love you and there for you without saying. Its the same with jesus. How ever he is always close, your very breath. Sorry if this may sound muddled up, lack of sleep lol. Your doing awesome. Let your past go and know that god smiles on you. Be blessed and thank you for sharing, ee all go through this. God blesd you :)

Hey, it's great to have you here. I think that what you're doing right now is definitely a good first step, seeking his will and all that. Feelings are tricky too and trust me I have had a lot of issues with feelings myself. Sometimes you have to think no matter what I feel right now God is still just as real and loves me just as much. Not that you won't ever feel anything or feeling is bad of course, you often do get a wonderful powerful feeling of God's presence and that is wonderful. Just when you don't feel that you don't have to go searching trying to recreate that feeling, you know?

And you know, sometimes we do over-complicate following God. Not that life isn't complicated, it's just we have to look at what he asks of us. That we believe in him, love him with our whole hearts, love others, and focus our lives on the things pleasing to him and he'll help us do it. I think of the story in Luke 10:38-42 when Jesus is in the house of Mary and Martha and he tells her that "few things are needed".

Did you know that the closer you get to God the harder the attacks from the devil come....seems to happen right before
a revelation....i feel so much power and calmness when im reading my bible...it is a spiritual book...ment to confuse the
unbelievers... but for lack of a better word magical for those of us who pray for the Spirit before we read...
..when i was a teen like many spent most of my time tripping myself up....
there comes a time when we are
young and we feel that we should make our own decisions..... that we feel grown...well....im an old lady walking this walk
and I still dont know what is best for me....when I talk to God I ask Him about everything....I bounce off thoughts im having.
then I get to a quiet place and pray and wait....You will hear Him ...He will make known to you what He wants you to do..
And that is what true maturity is...... not having all the answers but knowing that you dont....God has set this walk up perfectly..
we learn and grow at a certain pace....that fact you have the hunger for Him so young is alot more ...than us who waited for a tragedy
to finally come to Him....so keep heart my young sister you have stepped in the best direction.....keep looking to Him and reading...
and you will be a great success.....after time it comes so easy to us that those worries we use to feel seems foolish...
Im praying for you to find what you seek...and im always happy to talk to my young sisters ....so pm me....
Peace and joy to you baby girl.....soldier on....

Hello! I am also new here.. I just sign up today!
I've been experiencing the same problem with you.. In my heart and in my mind I really want to follow
God's word but it's just very difficult for me. I am a believer, I believe he is my savior and if I put my
worries into him everything will be fine. However, even though I think that way..I cannot help to think of other things.
I easily get swayed. I even questioned my faith. :( I am trying to overcome what I'm going through these days..God knows I am doing my best, I am glad to know that I am not alone. I believe that a lost puppy will find her home soon.^^

your heart is exactly in the place it should be, keep longing for that connection..you will find it, in the most profound way when you are in one moment, he will show you something that can only be between him and you, he will speak to your heart like no one else ever has, keep seeking that and never give up..god hears you, trust me!

Ok.....lets think of it this way.....when these times of trouble come our way.....we should rejoice....and I'll tell you why.....
these times are an opportunity to build our faith and to flex our spiritual muscles.....God says if we endure with a good
attitude and a smile on our face....a miracle is about to happen...this is how we show God we trust His word.....faith building
So I guess that means if we grow through the hard times....I say bring it on.....you see we have already won.....we know
we are already victors....these small battles they are just an annoyance.... He tells us He will turn trash to treasure.....and there
has never been a time in my life that God has let me down.....there have been many times its worked out better than I could
ever imagine.....I always win....When I look to Him....and say here God this is too much for me to deal with ...Thank Him...and
move on...not to worry about it again....cause if I worry after giving it away I take it out of Gods hands and im flying solo...
and then I wonder if He heard me or not.....so celebrate the good news....and let God do this His way....

In Collations 2:5 the Apostle Paul tells us "For though I am absent in the flesh, yet I AM WITH YOU in spirit, rejoicing to see your good order and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ." This is a message from the Apostle to the faithful. I believe that it is also a message from Christ to all the faithful. Not only to do you have the spirit of all other faithful, you have the Holly Spirit with you (the Great Commission at the end of Matthew) until the end of the world. Although the power of Satan may be strong, you have the unmatched power of God and all your fellow Christians to overcome it. I pray that this will help you.

Hi, Sydkid!

Well as you said, I also don´t know about you, but you said: "I know He is the way, but I can't seem to feel... I don't know."

Just allow me tell!

I don´t what your vices are though that definition could be short or too bias: Dirnking wine is not a vice, unless you like (or need) to get drunk all day long (the same applies for sex, whatever compulsive thing you do to find release, as expending money to loose it).

Be patience! your proplem seems to be linked to feelings, what you think you "feel" or hoped to feel. Is it?

Lst week one of my friends helped me to pray for another virtual friend. We prayed on prayer room and I seldom take the microphone to be heard (I just feeel it inside, I just write): She prayed and I also prayed and, by doing it, I FELT... Do you think is it something you need? (Prayer time).

My friend keep on praying, I followed and asked, for this remote side. She asked for my friend and I also asked for my friend and for my friends needs (The one praying also needed help in praying: Her husband WAS recovering in ICU). The moment came when I felt and, additionally wanted to pray more and, I realized we both were heard WHEN PRAYING. Why don´t you try "feeling" a moment praying -with someone else- on prayer wroom or AT A REAL CHURCH? (just to lavish those words to Him, GOD).

Be assurred if you present your requests, in the name of Jesus, you would do as much as you can TO BE HEARD, there, above. If you feeel or not, that has nothing to do with your emotions (there is not way to push GOD) Will you push any one to love you or hear you? You don´t.

Compare it to a person you like, will you push him - her to love you? And, if you are pushy, wll you be heard or like d more? I doubt it!

I could comparre it to other things but, feeling and doing are separated stuff. Hopefully! Somethings we´ve done are joyfully felt and enjoyed (Just find out why you don´t like to claen, to work without any payment or love a person who ignores you or hurts you).

Feelings are not glued to doings!

There was a time Jesus gave us an example. I´m going to check my e-sword because I don´t remember its place... Here is a Biblical example I remembered now:

Mat 21:28 "What do you think about this? A man had two sons. He went to the first and said, 'Son, go to work in the vineyard today.'
Mat 21:29 "His son replied, 'I don't want to!' But later he changed his mind and went.
Mat 21:30 "The father went to the other son and told him the same thing. He replied, 'I will, sir,' but he didn't go.
Mat 21:31 "Which of the two sons did what the father wanted?" "The first," they answered. Jesus said to them, "I can guarantee this truth: Tax collectors and prostitutes are going into the kingdom of God ahead of you.

None of them had "the feeling" but, the one who was UNWILLING (without the apropriate feeling) change his mind and did what his father asked.

Just an unanswered question: Will you change your mind? I often do the same. Welcome to CC. :)
