I think that anime/manga is very ungodly, as with a lot of other entertainment(movies, tv shows, books, music etc.) All manga/anime promote is fantasy and wishful thinking. My brother watches a lot of anime so I feel I have a pretty good idea of what anime promotes. A small list of shows I can think of off the top of my head that i have seen are AngelBeast, Naruto, FullMetal Alchemist, One Piece, Cowboy Bebop, Death Note, and of course Dragon Ball Z and Pokemon. With all of the anime/manga someone always has some ungodly power. Most anime, I have watched, is nothing more then a series of fighting against other people and "higher powers"..I don't know what to call them, but people who have stronger powers. All anime is make believe, nothing that could ever happen in real life. People have weird powers and battle against other people with weird powers, I don't see what is so great about it? It just makes people wish they could live in that world, not in the world God created.

Anime promotes nothing morally good. I give you some examples:
One Piece: It is about a boy who is corrupted by pirates into thinking stealing, killing, and fighting against innocent people is fine.
Naruto: It is all about fighting. The children are trained to be ruthless and fight for the warlords.
Dragon Ball Z: I use to love the orginal one, but all this show is terrible too. It promotes fighting and becoming God-like(Super sayin), aliens(Picalo, Android: 16, 17, and 18). It is all a big fantasy and all the characters are, are gods.
Inuyasha: The main character is literally a demon dog, no further explanation needed.

i am very confident with saying NOTHING good comes out of watching anime. It promotes demons, fairies, weird creatures, powers, polytheism, fighting, killing, the list goes on. People sit there and try to justify watching anime/manga because they don't want to give it up. But all of you anime/manga lovers know that it promotes nothing godly and if it doesn't promote God it promotes satan.
Sorry if my response is jumbled and repetitious, but I believe anime/manga is so ungodly, and that there is just so much proof, that I can't get my thoughts straight to make a good response.

Psalm 101:3 "I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes"
1 Corinthians 15:33 "33 Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners."

I personally like it. There's some really good movies that you can get inspired on. :) For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.

Now let's imagine, just for a second, that most people who watch anime can separate the fantasy of the show from the reality of the world we live in. Whoa, mind-blowing concept I know. Now enjoying cartoons is only bad if you lack common sense.

Agreed. Suspended disbelief I believe they call it. I would think most of the modern-day world is capable of that. Even as a child, I wasn't looking for Peter Rabbit in my back yard.

I know that many many people like to stay away from the topic of anime and manga. In my opinion, most people just don't understand it or the people who like and watch it. I make it a thing when I meet someone and think we could be good friends to ask them a few questions here and there. I absolutely can not stand it when I am with a friend and then suddenly realize that they are a hater of something I find great joy in.
If you do not feel comfortable answering this question then please do not do so. I am just very curious on what all of you think. I have seen and talking to many people to like, watch, and converse with one another about anime and/or manga. But then, I also meet other people who end up bashing on it and call it and the people who watch it freaks, ungodly, sinners, and I have witnessed some of those people yelling at others telling them "Go to Hell!" and to "Get off the planet God made, you are not welcome!". I just find this wrong.
All of your opinions mean a lot to me, please do comment back. I you want to chat with me then go right on ahead and message me! Have a great day!

I've often heard the saying, "what's Satan need with pagans when he's got Christian's to make God look bad?" This right here is a perfect example. Christian's do more harm to God's message by tearing one another down over things like this than nonchristians. Hey! We gonna let um get away with that? Not me! My God gave me my imagination! ;) So I'm gonna feel free to use it! Sure, let's obviously stay within godly perimeters when we do so. I'd think that would go without saying. Some of the worst things you can do to a young person's desire to be a Christian is to virtually tie them up, set them on some proverbial chair, and tell them they can't do anything because everything is sin. Kids raised in that setting go wild when they grow up.

I personally don't like anime/magna but I don't think you should rip on someone because they watch it. The anime I've seen is about fighting others from outer space and I just wasn't interested. I think people look down on anime because it's secular, but that's a stupid reason. A lot of things are secular.:)

There's anime and manga about virtually anything. Aerobics, basketball, soccer, baseball, swimming etc. Not all of it is fantasy or involves fighting. Also, imaginative stories do not automatically equal Satan's property. God gave us an imagination and it can be a beautiful thing.

I find Anime to be like any other form of media. It's a form of storytelling. Any media can be followed in a way that dishonors God, just as the same as honoring him. It isn't evil in general, in any way. If a story is going to cause us to feel uncomfortable with it's content, we don't swear off all books. Furthermore, sin can be found in anything that distracts us from following after God, even going to church. If things aren't done in consideration of his will, then it becomes sin. Now, there are many folks who become infatuated and obsessed with Anime and the culture it depicts, but that becomes an obvious thing. Obsessions can distract from God, regardless of the way they are manifested.

*sigh* ok, so I might not be a hardcore, super knowledgeable fan of all things anime/manga. However, I recognize it as another story-telling medium, just like Tintin said. As with all story-telling mediums, there can be many variations, such as childish, mature, innocent, vulgar, imaginative, informative, etc.

The world of live-action film also has a wide spectrum, including some incredibly inappropriate and downright sinful material. Does that mean I should never watch any live-action film? Of course not. It simply means I need to be discerning about what I watch. The same goes for anime/manga. Some of my all time favorite stories fall under the category of anime/manga, mostly because they are Japanese in origin.

Also, high-fives to Tintin for mentioning Fullmetal Alchemist and Studio Ghibli films! I may or may not have an Alphonse Elric keychain.

Manga = Silly Japanese cartoons! Nothing more, nothing less. I cannot understand why some people who are 25+ years old still watch it. If you want to watch cartoons once in a while, try the classic Looney Tunes or the old Disney stuff, just to reminisce the innocence of the good old days.
Anime/Manga generally goes into a lot greater philosophical detail than a Looney Toons/Disney movies.....So much so that only an adult could truly understand the concepts involved. I'll watch straight up old cartoons as well (I still like everything I liked when I was a kid) but looney toons vs good anime is like comparing a children's pop up book to a novel.

Is rudeness necessary? I was just stating why I think anime/manga is satanist, and clearly I offended you from stating my opinion.. You must not have been expecting someone to come on here, and actually know anime, and argue why it is a terrible influence. You have to look at the whole world and Not everyone in the world can separate fantasy from reality. Ever heard of Comic-con? Well tons of fights break out every year because people are so involved with certain characters and stories, and someone makes fun of it so fights break out. It is not necessarily people lacking common sense but becoming super involved with stories.
I believe if something does not glorify God, you shouldn't listen or watch it.

Offended by your opinion on anime? No. You're allowed to hold whatever opinions you want. Offended by the logic you used to get there? Certainly. I mean using the same logic then looney tunes would be equally satanic because God certainly didn't create anthropomorphic talking animals. We are basically playing God by re-creating his things to fulfill our own desires...

See it's just silly. I mean they are cartoons. Last thing this world needs are more christians calling anything they disagree with satanic.

I love anime/manga. I guess the reason why most christian's believe it's so wrong is because of the way they portray demons and spirits. It makes sense to a certain extent. I still watch though lol

That could be the case on the other hand...the argument for anime being evil was something you could find on any number of wacko site like goodfight.org

There is a point here the christian hobby of labelling things they don't understand/don't like personally as satanic has to stop.

I mean it's not like Sailor Moo or Goku is sending anyone to hell anytime soon.

Maybe we should all stop worrying about-- is this show or that movie or this book or that doctrine demonic or a false teaching or a cult or anti-Bible-- for one freaking moment and instead practice just being nice to each other!!! How about that for a change??? What a concept!!

I used to read random manga titles from time to time. But as I got older, I found out I enjoyed the slice of life genre of both anime and manga. I often found that the story in said title was a little more realistic and full of emotion. But it's really hard to find decent and gripping stories that doesn't involve too much sex and or brutal violence.

Beck was one title I really enjoyed among with a handful of others.

But all in all, I can kinda understand where both sides are coming from here.

I prefer the brutal violence ones but there are a few slice of life i enjoy though it takes me a while to get into them.
