It states that he will cause ALL TO TAKE it dia threat of death.......and or if they want to buy, sell or get gain.....

a. Some will take it willingly
b. Some will take it for fear of death
c. Some will take it to participate in the world's system of buying, selling or getting gain

Those who do not take it will be ostracized, imprisoned and or ultimately killed by being beheaded

Seeing that most on site believe that they are all going to be taken off before the beast arrives the question about the mark and almost
everything else mentioned in revelation has no application to them

If you can reject it, It must mean that you are willing to accept or deny it.. I also believe it is not going to be something that we are fooled into taking, I do believe we will know what it is.. For all we know. It could be somethign we already have, and the beast makes people make a proclamation for people to follow him with a new number as a means of worship.

666 I believe has another meaning attached to it. I would think the kind of meaning that as truth we should buy and not sell the spiritual understandings hid in parables. The doctrine according to my understanding would seem to have been literalized. Not a literal mark as a sign but rather mark as understanding .

Beasts points to the clay or dust were mankind is formed of . From dust we are from to dust it will return .Our living hope is a new incorruptible body that will never die..

Genesis 13:16 And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.

I think in that way the dust of the earth if it could be numbered would be 666 a sign of natural unconverted man who does not know God .

Mankind as a beast of the field was created on day 6 . frequently the Holy Spirit uses the word three as the end of the matter. (666)

I think a good example using the dust of the field to help distinguish the mark is with Cain and Able the field and ground set the stage or foundation .
