Jesus laid down His life as a sacrifice, because without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness for sin. Jesus took our place in that He was made sin for us. “He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” Jesus’ death was a substitution, “the righteous for the unrighteous,” the innocent for the guilty, the perfect for the corrupt. .Jesus is the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world. Christ died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so that we might be reconciled to God, and attain to life ever after.

Yes.. He took the punishment for the sins of all who would believe Him and trust that His sacrificial death on the cross takes the punishment that is due upon us because of our sins..

To provide a one time demonstration of a unseen eternal work of the lamb of God slain from. . . . before the foundation of the world. .
Christ cannot die .It was a living sacrifice. Suffering unto death not dead.

God does not accept dead sacrifices.... that have no spirit life. He gave His Spirit live in jeopardy of his own Holy Spirit . Its how the parable drink the blood is defined, as it relates to man's blood.

Drinking literal blood and eating literal flesh would promote cannibalism. Blood was poured out of the sacrifice Like with Christ to show Spirit life was given. . . a unseen work viewed by faith . Not looking to the temporal seen as if it could profit.

Even the Son of man in resect to his own flesh and blood said it as that seen. . . corrupted (dead) flesh and blood cannot profit ..

Peter was given the faith to understand there is no such thing as holieness of the flesh in respect to the things seen . when confronted with the law the flesh profits for nothing zero he said.... "Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life."

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him. And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.
From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?
Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. John6:63-68

Again no such thing as corrupted flesh of eternal life.

Did Jesus die on the cross to take the punishment for our sins?

Yes, He did. It was all because of the forbidden fruit. I believe the forbidden fruit tree has a physical and a symbolic component to it. And yes, the fruit actually opened their eyes. God knew they would partake and He knew they had before He even asked. Their guilty consciences made them aware of their nakedness.

What the symbolism boils down to is defining the original sin. That is deciding right from wrong, or good and evil if you will, for themselves instead of trusting God. I believe that was Satan's sin also. He probably said something like why is this evil, just because God says so? Not trusting God's truths is what leads to unbelief.

So, by God imputing us all sinful right from the start meant He didn't have to wait until we actually sinned. Which we would eventually. That was very clever of God, imputing sin to Adam's descendants so He would only have to rescue us once. Not die for each of us.

Rom. 5:12-14: "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come."

Here is the justification:
Rom. 5:18,19: "Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous."

God is in the process of ridding the universe of evil. He is demonstrating how evil will end everything unless He intervenes. Satan and the fallen angels started this, but God is going to finish it while showing us a few things. When it is all done, God is going to prove we should have listened to His decision of what is good and what is evil.

Yes he did,but somebody might ask, why, since HE IS ALMIGHTY GOD why did HE disrobe/humble HIMSELF and come down to earth to die for our sins rather than just say ok I forgive you and everything Is back to being ok?

"Surely He took on our infirmities and carried our sorrows; yet we considered Him stricken by God, struck down and afflicted. But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.

Since His punishment brought us peace, then God's wrath no longer rests upon the believer. This above is the very reason why the church must be removed prior to God's coming wrath on this earth.

Romans 5:18-19 Therefore as by the offence of one [Adam] judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one [the Lord Jesus Christ] the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. For as by one man's [Adam's] disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one [the Lord Jesus Christ] shall many be made righteous.

John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

Revelation 5:11-13 And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing. And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.

Note in John 1:29 ... the Lord Jesus Christ did not die to take the punishment for our sins. The Lord Jesus Christ removed sin from us who believe on Him.

The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world (John 1:29).

The Believer who places and maintain their Faith exclusively in the "Son of God and the Lamb of God," i.e., the Cross, sin can no longer every attach itself to you when you commit acts of sin. Glory be to God!
