It makes sense except for two things, that first verse talks about him being taken to heaven but I didn't see anything about his body being left behind. And the second one it speaks of them seeing it afar off believing and embracing them that could also imply the faith in the promise. Faith is after all seeing because we believe but it also could mean whaty you say as well. Either way it is an interesting concept I think I saw a movie where a person died but didn't see death, although that person was also suddenly in hell but still
There is only one way that a person (not the persons body, but his soul and spirit) can be taken directly to heaven and yet it could still be said that that person also died?

That way, is that the person was taken out of his body just prior to the death of that body. There is no other way to reconcile that Enoch never saw death and that Enoch also died.

Enoch is a picture of the translation or what you call the rapture for sure. And he and Elijah are the only Old Testament hints of the translation that I know of BUT Enoch's body died. Enoch was translated to paradise just prior to the death of his body and that is the case for all who faith in Christ... Believers in Christ NEVER die.
I'm sorry saint maybe I missed that where is it mentioned that Enoch body died?
Elijah's body was still intacked. Or is this your assumson?

It's easily overlook.

(Heb 11:5) By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
(Heb 11:6) But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
(Heb 11:7) By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
(Heb 11:8) By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.
(Heb 11:9) By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:
(Heb 11:10) For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
(Heb 11:11) Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.
(Heb 11:12) Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable.
(Heb 11:13) These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

I see that Enoch was the exception being translated where his body was not found.
The rest of the saints their bodies were layed to rest.
Paul said "it is appointed to every man to die then the judgement" that's why I believe Enoch will come back with Elijah.
The two witnesses will be killed.
Remembering that scripture can point to past, present, and future we pause here to say "but I thought Enoch was not for the Lord took him" to conclude that his body died just before God took him brings us to a contradiction.
Now as we read on through our new testament we see the book of revelation speak of 2 witnesses one identified one not. Both were killed.
If I'm not mistaken Elijah was seen taken but Enoch was not . Both men of faith but to bring truth to Paul's writings both return to the death appointed to all dieing in faith.
Now Jesus said blessed are those the have seen and believed but more blessed are those that have not seen yet believe.
Paul says "not all shall sleep" (die) but be caught up in a twinkling of a eye.
The saved born again believer is found dead in Christ if Christ is risen then we also are risen with him.
The dead in Christ shall rise first. To what ? To meet him in the air. Strange place to meet. This is not the second coming. It is time for Gods wrath to be poured out. Why are we taken?
Because we are not appointed to wrath.
Enoch pleased God . Abraham pleased God. The two examples of faith are found in James 1:22
Be a doer and not just a hearer.
Enoch preached his faith Abraham demonstrated his faith. A little homework what did Elijah do?

I use the here a little, there a little method. Enoch never tasted death... a little. These all died... there a little. The full council of God, God took Enoch before Enochs body died.

What did Elijah do?

I believe the Day of Christ is the day that we look up into heaven and see Christ just prior to the death of this physical body.
Thanks for the reply. I respect your "belief", but wouldn't a verse or two settle it?

Go well brother.

How about this one? Jesus begins a good work in us and will perform that good work in us until when? When is that good work completed?

(Php 1:6) Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

I mean the "looking up into heaven at the point of death" part. Lets put your understanding into this verse you gave:

"Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of your death as you look into heaven seconds before this death"

When we get taken to heaven, there is no more work to be performed in us. Do you think God will still be perfecting us in heaven?

What I was inquiring for was scripture for your understanding that "the Day of Christ" is our looking into heaven the day of our death. I might be a nice thought, but I think that whereas "the Day of the Lord" always means His righteous judgment and retribution on men, "the Day of Jesus Christ", in its context, means the righteous judgment and apportioning of reward or loss to the Church. Just look at these verses and consider what they imply.

1st Corinthians 1:8 "Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ."

"Blameless" means that one could be blamed. "Confirm" means that some are not going to be confirmed.

1st Corinthians 5:5 "To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus."

"The spirit of that man saved" IN THAT DAY means that his spirit could have perished. This could only happen if a judge and executioner were at hand.

2st Corinthians 1:14 "As also ye have acknowledged us in part, that we are your rejoicing, even as ye also are ours in the day of the Lord Jesus."

"THAT we are your Rejoicing" shows a conditional result. Some will not rejoice then. This is in part a threat.

Philippians 1:6 "Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ"

Paul is confident that the Philippian saints will have "a good work" performed because they displayed such care for him in his bonds in Rome. Others deserted him. Of these he said; "At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge" (2nd Timothy 4:16). That is, some Christians can look for retribution in that day.

I see your points but I just don't agree. No big deal, I'm sure Jesus will straighten both of us out when we get to heaven. :)

The second coming of Christ is found in many places in the Old Testament, the Day of the Lord is found in many places in the Old Testament, where is the prophecy of the rapture in the Old Testament?
I think that there are evidences of the rapture in the old testament, for example Enoch died in a rapture way. He was caught up. I guess you could try googling it.

I agree, Enoch is the Old Testament example of the rapture. Enoch's body died but Enoch was taken to heaven just prior to the death of his body. Also this was a rapture on an individual basis and not a mass rapture.
