I was not raised in a Christian home, and endured horrific abuse. In my late 20s I read a book called "The Late Great Planet Earth". I still have a copy of it. I was extremely hostile about Religion and very angry. So, one Saturday I decided to read that book and prove in my own mind that everything it said was nonsense. Oddly, there were several Bibles in the house, and God only knows how they got there. It took me two week ends to read it and by the time I got done, I knew that I had been terribly wrong and that there was a Jesus Christ. I was greatly surprised that God loved me and that he had sent his Son to us to die for our sins. It was April of 1974. Its been 47 years.

Good testimony!(y) Why did you put "unsure" in your "Christian Status" box? Jesus desires that we all posses that peace and blessed assurance that only He can give. We love you and Jesus loves you even more.:):coffee:

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Its about a relationship, not a religion.:)(y)

Welcome katia! I also am new to Christian Chat, well as of a week ago. Everyone is so nice here.

I also came from a horrible childhood, so I can understand your confusion about Jesus, but I was raised as Catholic and could not understand how my family were hippocrates.

I did eventually for give some of the people involved. I pray a lot now asking God to help me forgive the one person who damaged me most. I am working on this but it is not easy to forgive incest. However there is a reason I had to endure that and I believe God has made me into such a better person for it. Not that I would ever want to go through it again. Remember God loves everyone, even the person who took so much away from me.

I wrote "unsure" in my religious status because I believe in God and the lordship of Jesus the Christ, I am very distanced from denominational Christianity and am doubtful of ever trusting them, or anyone again. I have forgiven them but have no plans to allow what happened to me at their hands to repeat.
