I am a long time believer but new to reading the Bible and I find that it helps me understand the Word tremendously when I can visualize what is happening. I have just finished reading The Acts chapter 2. When the Holy Spirit gives the disciples the ability to speak in tongues and the surrounding people hear them, what were the speakers saying? Were they preaching, talking among themselves, or praying? what were they doing so that the multitudes and surrounding people were able to hear them? I greatly appreciate any help in understanding. Thank you for helping me learn.

I highly encourage you to read the entire Bible in a timeline, chronological order. Below is the structured system. Start today!

Timeline Chronological 365-Day Reading Plan

If you decide to do as I have suggested, you will know far more than most who call themselves Christians. You will have a tremendous advantage when it comes to Understanding and then discussing the Bible.

Now, if you read the Bible as I have suggested, and if I might suggest . . . take note of each word and see how it relates to the Almighty Power of God. If you do this, you will find that the single most important concept that you can grasp is that God is Powerful and we are not. If you recognize His Almighty Power, you will likely be given True Fear of the Lord. And if you develop the True Fear of the Lord, you will take His Mysterious Plan of Salvation seriously and you will accept the Spiritual Circumcision of Christ. And that will be the second most important concept that you will discover, which is that the Heart of the Bible revolves around Circumcision of the Heart; a Holy Work that only Christ can authorize and grant.

And as you continue onward in this incredible journey of discovering the Lord's Almighty Power, you will come to Acts 2 and see the exact same Power in His Causing these Holy men to speak in tounges, just as you read of Him Parting the Red Sea and the Jordan river twice! Yes, the Lord parted bodies of water three times . . . not many seem to know that, sadly.

Acts 2 is about Power, first and foremost. More than anything, the Power of God is what you are to understand.

I hope your Heart finds this well within your soul.

A believer is one who HEARS THE WORD,THEN DOES IT.

The ONLY way to gain insight into God's plan for our lives is to begin with the 4 Gospels of Jesus Christ.
We must be convicted of our sin ( these are defined in the word but your conscience has already taught you what is right and wrong) and see ourselves as filthy before God, unrighteous with no hope.

Then we must repent ,do a 180 in our hearts and minds, confess before God of all the convictions you have ,ask him to forgive you and wipe your slate clean, restoring your name in the book of life.

He said seek and you should find ,ask and it will be opened to you. We must tune our hearts to God's channel which is his word and listen as he teaches us through the Holy Spirit's guidance. The word will build your faith, supply you with added grace,BELIEF, knowledge and hope.

We are not alone on our journey for Jesus said take my yoke upon you for it is easy, he shoulders every yoke, burden, failure, everything we bring to him.

Your manual, your map, your TRUTH is only found in his word,NOT man's.
1John 2:27
But the anointing which ye have received of HIM ABIDETH IN YOU,and ye need NOT that any man TEACH you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of ALL things, and is truth, and is NO lie, and even as it hath taught you,ye shall ABIDE in him.

there were people from native lands there God had begin to do what he promised them spreading the gospel to all nations and tongues

they were speaking in tongues they hadn’t known before it was “a wonder “ they would have more reason to believe Peter explains later that it’s the fulfillment of the prophet Joel’s prophecy

“And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues,( languages ) as the Spirit gave them utterance.

And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.

And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:4-8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

it caused them to listen to what Peter began preaching because they were amazed at what was happening often miracles and amazing works were for that purpose to cause people who see it to take heed of what’s being said like a “proof “ but more blessed are those who don’t see and still believe

Hope this was helpful God bless
