So recently God has been laying on my heart to get into a church. I know i need the fellowship with other believers. I have PTSD from many trauma's in my life. So for me to heal from alot of it, I need the fellowship.
I decided to go online and look at surrounding churches. Then decided to look into a church I went to years ago. The whole atmosphere of the webpage bothered my spirit. When I looked into the staff members one really bothered my spirit. So I looked her up on facebook . Sadly I was right she was lesbian. God laid it on my heart to reach out to them thru email. asked about their statement of faith and beliefs and they seemed to jump around with their answers. Finally just asked them if they are aware that we are not to have leaders with that in their background. No response as of yet.
But sometimes wonder how far some of these places go just to get people in the door. We are to love everyone and give it to God. But we are also to have leaders chosen by God.

amen sister. funny you mention this, have recently been considering church and fellowship as well. made a few calls and got through to one local pastor. Sadly it didnt go well, the guy seemed quite rude really. didnt invite me to church, didnt tell me anything about the church, and then told me to call him back, he was busy.

Unfortunately there are heretical churches out there. God will deal with them. In the mean time, you must continue your search.

I have physically went to the one right across from where we live. My son did not go with me. He has autism, but most people really cannot tell he has issues at least not at first. Very high functioning. That being said , the service was fine. Loved the teaching was spot on. I went to leave the Pastor and his father were shaking hands on the way out. He goes "You look familiar?"... I replied "I should I live right across from the street from the church". Then what he said next made me shutter. He goes "Oh your the one with the retarded boy".
My mouth dropped, I was thinking wow how did he know my son has some issues. Plus the fact he called someone retarded.
I go "Excuse me?". He goes "Yeah the house with the ramp and the crippled kid". He was sadly talking about another house across the street from them. Saddest part of all the kid has MS , it does not effect his mental capacity per say. Needless to say I did not go back.
Not everyone should be a Pastor, Leader etc.

sadly, the main reason people have a negative opinion of church and do not go is...church.
