Friday 4-28-23 6th. Day Of The Weekly Cycle, Iyar 7 5783, 40th. Spring Day

1 Timothy 4

Description Of False Teachers

1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:

5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

Instruction For The True Teacher

6 If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.

7 But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.

8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

9 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.

10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

Third Charge "Neglect Not The Gift"

11 These things command and teach.

12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.

14 Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.

15 Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.

16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

1 Timothy 6

Exhortation To Servants

1 Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed.

2 And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort.

Exhortation To Godliness With Contentment

3 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;

4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,

5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.

6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.

7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.

8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.

9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.

10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

13 I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;

14 That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:

15 Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;

16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.

Exhortation To The Rich

17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;

19 Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

Fifth Charge "Keep That Which Is Committed"

20 O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:

21 Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.

Spiritual excercise

“For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.

For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.

But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭5:12-14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“(for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭10:4-5‬ ‭

Spiritual Armor and A victorious battle plan

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth,

and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

And take the helmet of salvation,

and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
( the only offensive weapon we have )

praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6:10-18‬ ‭

when we’re told “ there’s nothing for you to do your already saved don’t think your in a war for your soul you already won don’t think you need to fight the good fight there is no fight you have no enemy be complacent do t watch and be aware and ready your already saved by grace “ ect

At his message sounds nice and comfortable but it’s also blinding us to the truth of a battle we’re in for our everlasting soul and the reality of our enemy actively working to destroy us and keep us from salvation in this life and world

Some Christian’s want to hear that they don’t need to take this seriously they don’t need to repent and change and hear what God actually said about eternal life and believe some want to hear “your saved the end “ but that message also is destroying our ability to defend against the enemy and fight the good fight

satans best plan is to convince us we’re not supposed to be fighting for Jesus we’re not supposed to be serving th e lord we’re not able to stand against the enemy we can’t stop sinning ect as he convinces us of those things he’s winning

Bodily exercise is indeed of little value in spiritual things...

HOWEVER,

bodily exercise maintains the physical tent in which we live, which if not maintained, will not be available to serve the spiritual work to which we are called but will be limited by injury, sickness, or degradation.

This is really a no-brainer, but some people want to come across as hyper-spiritual so they demean the self-care (including exercise) that others undertake. I'm not accusing the OP of that motivation; that's between him and the Holy Spirit.

Walking is the best exercise. Unfortunately there are not too many places which are walkable without looking out of place.

On this theme, I, personally, have profited much in going to YouTube and hearing a bevvy of chiropractors advice upon combatting hip displacement, cervicals and general osteoarthritis , and so many age-related problems. I give glory to God for pointing me in this direction.
No, I do not fight age, that would be pure foolishness, but the exercises provided by these wonderful people is so helpful, and I pray God bless them all.
No also, I am not wanting to become a young Schwarzenegger, but comfortable is a boon.
If we do not move it, there is a good chance we will lose it.

Probably a lot safer also. What Paul was saying is that physical exercise is not the same as spiritual exercises, but one does not cancel the other.

It is alot safer. If you go to a local mall here you will find quite a few people, particularly retired people and couples, walking the perimeter of the mall. Afterwards, they are all at the coffee shop.
