Bakhmut is slowly being retaking by Ukraine. It was close there for a while....but those encircling the city are now being encircled. They have pulled back. Huge losses for the Russians as their lines break down and they scramble to retreat.
Some are surrendering. Strangely enough they get better treatment surrendering than they would if they made it back to behind their own lines. (That's the story they tell)

I wish Putin had not started this war....too many lives being lost.

We can only hope that both sides will agree to a peace treaty. It’s long overdue now. The Western countries and China should put some effort into it.

sadly I feel you should be holding your UK government in the same league as Putin sorry.
I'm not getting pulled into the better player card when it comes to leaders.
I will when it comes to soldiers tho.
Really how do you feel about the poor athletes of Russia or the tennis players of Russia or the football players of Russia being prevented from competing in sporting events because of Putin's choice.
Then there's all the sanctions on Russia driving the costs up for russian civilians who love there Ukrainian friends.
The russian people are now on the highest interest rates for there loans and mortgages any where else in the world.
That is criminal friend.
Europe America UK are driving up poverty,
So is Russia by cutting of there gas supply to Europe and making some of the world's largest nuclear power plants redundant.

All four sides are bumping up poverty for Satan.
Whilst us the civilians accept there plans

Surely you can see that there all working for satan
FYI I've lived in Australia for the past 55 years. It's not "my" government. There is such a thing as the lesser of two evils. Putin obviously does not see Ukrainians as his friends. What the average Russian believes has no bearing on Putin's plans. And they are fed propaganda that suits Putin's aims. Any dissenting voice is silenced.

Can you not see that appeasement is pure folly? How about Ukrainian athletes whose homes are bombed and families killed? And the West refuses Ukraine permission to strike Russian territory for fear of escalation. Ukraine has no choice as it has to keep the West happy or their weapons will dry up. What is fair about that?

If Ukraine falls, Putin will attack other former USSR nations next. As they have already. Ukraine has substantial resources that Russia can use. It's not a buffer from NATO nations, rather a stepping stone for more aggressive action. That's why Poland is rearming as quick as they can. They know that if Ukraine falls, they will be the next target.

Peace is really easy. Russia pulls back to pre 2014 borders and pays reparations for the criminal damage caused to Ukraine. Putin is handed over to a war crimes tribunal. What could be simpler?

Poland you say? Well, I FF'd the video just for you buddy, enjoy. Then rewind to the start and edumacate yourself.

And let somebody with actual brains, an encyclopedic historical perspective, experience, and PhD level geopolitical expertise speak to the facts of this conflict.

So much for the jingoistic "kill all Russian orcs" and "Putin is a bloodthirsty warmonger building a neo-Tsarist empire" fodder meant to agitate the thimble of brains useful idiots.

Show me on a map where exactly these large Chinese military bases are stationed in countries around the world, massing troops preparing for an invasion. Any invasion.

As for Taiwan, word has it that the pro-Beijing party should prevail in the next election. So much for that much sought-after military misadventure.
Do you know where Taiwan is? The bases are in China. That's 100 miles away. They have also built bases in the Spratley's, entirely illegally. There are naval bases in East Africa and elsewhere. China has a border with Russia. Russia has a base (Vladivostok) near Japan.

No one is seeking war on this forum. That includes me. At least, I've not come across any gung ho types.

Im afraid that the Russian dezinformatzyia is already making its way through the western world. Putting an end to this war quickly is paramount. Just look around you in this thread. People rooting shamelessly for Putin. I don’t think all of them are out of the Russian troll assembly lines in the outskirts of St. Petersburg. Many of them are even American citizens.

Part of the problem is Crimea. Sevastopol is seen as the home of the Russian Navy. Russia has poured a LOT of money into Crimea but only in support of the shipyard with roads, rail lines, and infrastructure for the shipyards....everything else is ignored.

Consequently, before the propaganda campaigns and vote tampering by Russia Crimeans voted to stay a part of Ukraine. (Kruschev gave it to Ukraine because their fresh water comes from Ukraine)

Putin wants Crimea back....it's a nice vacation spot too for Russians with Florida like beaches and etc. (Baltic climate)

If Russia loses Crimea and Sevastopol as a result Putin will lose his job....pure and simple. (Big time disgrace) Ukraine had a long term lease with Russia for the Navy ports in Sevastopol....and was planning on keeping them ongoing until this war started. Now they don't want the bridge or any Russian ships in any harbor at anytime. Especially due to the propaganda campaigns and Russian settlements. (Russia was paying loyalists to move there)

Now that heavy reparations are owed for the demolished cities, the lost lives, the stolen young women and children, the stolen equipment and goods, and mine clearing.....they are not getting it back.

I don't know what the answer is exactly. UN peacekeepers are likely a part of it. But with the changing sentiments inside of Russia itself....any sort of Stalinist wannabe is not going to get tapped to rise up.

Another talking head. I can find another dozen or so who have the opposing view.

Do you live in Ukraine? Do you have to live with the consequences of the decisions you would make for them? You should find out what Putin had to say himself. He signalled his intentions clearly and publically. He has misjudged everything, including the abilities of his armed forces. He will go down in history as a total loser.

That’s true. He really messed up. For how long will the Kremlin accept his failures?

He has it back. Do you have any idea of how many Russian troops are prepared to defend it?

If Russia loses Crimea and Sevastopol
Well.....MacGregor notes in that video that the Russians have blown up THE major bridge crossing from Moldova that would have been used to transport heavy equipment and personnel to support an assault on Mariupol and push eastward to Crimea.

Furthermore it is evident, the Russians have superb ISR, and use it to inflict staggering losses.

Another fact: Ukraine has lost 10's of millions of its population. Thus the brutal press gangs forcing conscription at gunpoint.

Don't blame me for knowing what I am talking about......blame MacGregor.
And of course I know what Putin has said.

This war is over for all intents and purposes. More dead Ukrainians will only help the Russians.

Would you believe that even during the WWII that there were a LOT of people in America that protested our involvement in it? My grandmother was one of them.
Big time anti war protester in the '40's.
(Nobody hears about them today because they were "left coast liberal reds" )

So where I get it to some degree....some of the anti-assistance I don't understand at all. Russian aggression has caused a HUGE rush of many nations to desire to join NATO. Now Japan wants to join....Philippines are considering it as well.

This "NATO expansion " is because of Russian aggression. The exact opposite of their intended result.

Those would be the MIC mouthpieces with $$$skin in the game$$$.

The fact is: Zelensky sold out his people for $$$bribes$$$, cocaine, and probably a lot of other reasons, including a likely mob-style execution if he does not hold up his part of the bargain.

Wake up and quit being a child. These nefarious actors do not give a hoot about Ukrainian lives. If they did this war would already be over.

You keep saying that you know what you’re talking about and how intelligent you are, but why do you need to be boasting about it around the clock if you really are so intelligent?

And there is a HUGE rush to join the BRICS org and jettison the USD.

No buyers for infinite US clownbux (at the expense of US taxpayers), no moar war machine lube.
Britain is dead-ass broke too. And the British military is now a desiccated corpse of what it once was.

David Petraus and many others disagree. The only advantage Russia has is that they are not being bombarded with missiles like Ukrainian civilians are suffering. On the other hand, Russian manufacturing is suffering because so many men are fighting, being severely injured and dying on the front lines. Putin started this, no matter what you say.

There's another thing missing from Russia currently....electronic stores.

And EVERYTHING runs on electronics lately.....especially missiles and munitions.
