I think God is in all of us from the moment we're born, but as we get older he's stifled by the polluting influence of the world.
I'm lucky in that respect because I've always had a rebellious anti-world nature, so he was never stifled in me..:)
"Do not conform to the pattern of this world" (Rom 12:2)
"As a soldier of Christ, please only God and not the world" (2 Tim 2:3/4)
"Do not love the world or the things in it, otherwise the love of God is not in you" (1 John 2:15-17)
"Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth" (Col 3:2)
"A friend of the world is the enemy of God" (James 4:4)
"You were dead when you followed the ways of the world" (Eph 2:1/2)

"You died with Christ from this world, so don't keep submitting to its rules" (Col 2:20)
"For we look at things unseen rather than the seen, for the seen are temporary, but the unseen are eternal" (2 Cor 4:18)
Hi, Dropship, and a sincere, yet belated, welcome to you.

Not to be contentious, but I would have to disagree with your two opening statements.

Ephesians 2:1-3

"And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others."

Prior to being quickened or made alive in Christ, we all walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, or the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience. We all also had our conversation or behavior in times past in the lusts of our flesh, or in fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and we were all, by nature, children of wrath. This is precisely why Jesus said that we must be born again (John 3:7).

I hope that you understand what I am saying.

How did you become a Christian? Am sure by the same way we all do?
I think everybody is born as a christian, but as they get older the world pollutes them and they drift away to follow the ways of the world.
Luckily I was always a tough-minded little son of a gun and rejected the world when I was around 12 years old, so the world had no chance of polluting me..:)

Thanks and incidentally when I was filling in my profile this seemed to be the nearest compulsory description for me- "small group leader" , but I want to make it clear I'm not a leader at all, I'm just a member of a group and we have no leader except Jesus..:)

Jesus said:-"Call nobody teacher except me" (Matt 23:8-10)
Same here. Although "I" (really Jesus...I am just trying to follow him) have led small groups in the past more than once, the only group that I am presently leading is me, myself, and I, and, again, I am really just seeking to follow Jesus. He is the leader.

Hi, Dropship, and a sincere, yet belated, welcome to you.
Not to be contentious, but I would have to disagree with your two opening statements....
If you mean these two-
1- I think God is in all of us from the moment we're born, but as we get older he's stifled by the polluting influence of the world.
2- I'm lucky in that respect because I've always had a rebellious anti-world nature, so he was never stifled in me..:)

When the deaf-blind Helen Keller learnt to communicate with people by tapping on their fingers she was asked "What was it like to be told about Jesus for the first time?", she replied "I always knew he was there", which indicates she sensed him within her from a very early age.
Like many kids, I always sensed he was there too, but the world (parents and schoolteachers) tried to bully him out of us by filling our heads with worldly values, and many kids were therefore spiritually polluted and lost sight of Jesus, but I never lost sight of him..:)

Just because someone senses Jesus, this does not necessarily mean that he dwells within them. In other words, God strives with us by his Spirit, and he has also given each of us a conscience which either accuses or excuses us. None of this negates the fact that Jesus said we must be born again (John 3:7).

I think everybody is born as a christian
That is an impossibility. For starters, we are born a natural person, which
is an enemy to God, and requires being born again to be reconciled to God.
Repentance and belief go along with that... things babies are not capable of.

Yes but he also reminded people that water molecules have no importance compared to the baptism of the holy spirit-
"Jesus said...For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” -Acts 1:5)
