No. Not asking for money.. Ha Ha... But for prayer. I am planning a trip to Nicaragua in April to help build water purifiers so the people there can have something that we take for granted... clean water. The "primary" goal is to help share Jesus and the good news. Here's the thing though. I gave the proposal to my church so they could consider supporting me financially and a guy says, "Why go there to help "those people". Really?! THOSE PEOPLE? He says just wait and Obama will be bringing them here soon enough.

I felt like saying, "That's fine Christian attitude there." But, I didn't. I was really aggravated for about three days. Justifiably I think. As far as I know the Great Commission is still valid... or did I miss the update? Honestly, I never had much interest in missions and evangelism until recently until God laid it on my heart.

I guess the prayer request is that first, I will receive the needed support... and second, that people would be burdened for the same things that burden God's heart... namely, lost people who need to know that He loves them.

Thanks,

George P.

If you've established a date, would I be right to assume you've already established an itinerary and the proper contacts and network needed?

I went on a brief missions trip when I was younger, it was an experience I think many more should have. Father God, please make straight his path, and make good his word and testimony. But you're doing this outside of your church? I find their response a bit un-Christian as well. Taking God's Word to the world is a commission until He gathers us to His. Politically I can see his point, don't necessarily agree with it, but if your true 'primary' motive is to spread the Word they should support you.

May I ask, humbly, are you being paid for building these purifiers?

No, not at all. The whole thing is voluntary.

I think if I had to sell my truck in order to pay for the trip I probably would. I really believe that God has a reason for me to go. I mean, not just someone...but, me. Although I don't know the reason yet.
