My mother-in-law's dog shall be put to sleep at the vet tomorrow because he is old and ill and was constantly howling because he was in much pain. She's had him for many years and this will be really hard on her.
Please pray that she is quickly comforted in Jesus after her loss and given peace.

Definitely hard, Sister... I'm really sorry ... I know what I went through with my pets. God have mercy on her. Sometimes it's best to rescue a shelter animal just some weeks after this and save a life in honor of the life lost.
Bless you and your Mom, with my prayers and empathy. Will be thinking of her for certain.

Give your mom a "holding on" type of hug - and then give her another one from all of us.

Father God, be the ultimate comforter in this time of loss. Let her know her tears are seen and that you count every one of them. As she begins to move forward in her grief show her the gift that this precious dog was and always will be even in memory. Amen.

So sorry. I cried when I read this because I had to have my beloved pet sweetie put to sleep November 17th. I live alone and miss her bad.
People tell me get another rescue dog but I'm not ready yet. Maybe your mil will get another in time when she is ready. I know it is very hard. Praying for her to find comfort and peace.

You know, God's promises to the lion and the lamb apply to the kitties and pooches (et al) as well. All creation groans for redemption, even the trees cry out. Jesus came for us but He caught up all of creation with redemption. You will hear that familiar bark once again.

God bless you, be strong in faith for that day...

Amen

Update... they were at the vet today and there was a detailed examination first.
Turns out his organs seem to be okay where she was afraid they were failing, his immense pain is coming from his back because he has arthritis, which we knew from before, well the arthritis went worse and his bones hurt much. They have done some analysis and my mil is waiting for the results prior to deciding what to do. He might stay in life but be treated with painkillers as surgery is hardly an option. I didnt really find out much as she didnt really want to talk about it. I dont know what she will decide. Thank you and Jesus bless you all so much for your prayers it is very appreciated no matter what happens.

My Labrador retriever Katie had arthritis and pain but the vet suggested laser treatments. they helped her have about 2 more good years. It may not be an option in your case. She was 13 years old when I lost her. I don't mean to complicate the decision but I just wanted to say.

Sounds like you care for her as Ruth cared about Naomi. God Bless you and give her the right decision.
I prayed that my kittie that died this September to not suffer as she had a tumor in her thyroid for a few years and lost so much weight but she never suffered, still ate and played and went in just less than 20 minutes in a type of stroke coma way.
I KNOW HE Cares - as He told me the night before my bird died to say "Good bye" when I covered it for the night that Saturday and sure enough, he was gone when I got up the next morning. If God can send ravens to feed His prophet - I KNOW that He sends these guys to us for help and company and tons of love. God Bless your Mom with Divine wisdom and mercy for her soul, and God Bless you for caring this much about your husband's mother!

After a lot of trying to fix problems alternate ways, they are taking him to the vet now to put him to sleep. :(
I'm worried about her and how she will handle it. Please pray.
