On February 1st it will be my husband's 1 year anniversary since he became sober. There have been so many changes in our lives and so many ups and downs. My husband is starting a new business which will require that he attend a week long training session 3000 miles away. He'll be away on that anniversary date. On one hand I have a great deal of faith that this trip will not cause him to fall out of sobriety but on the other hand it wouldn't be surprised to have him have to deal with temptation. I will probably be a nervous wreck. Please pray that he will stay strong and not tempt himself.

Sure will be backing you and he with prayer, Sister and with the others that will be praying. I can imagine what faith you'll both need for this week coming up and I hope you two can pray together until he leaves just for the Lord to increase your faith and focus on Him and Him Alone. A year is a long time and I bless The LORD for Him helping your husband -- he just has to believe that he will feel so much grief, despair and condemnation/beatings from the enemy if he goes back to it - that's it's the closest feeling to being in hell to feel that condemned or despaired of ourselves. It's not worth that hellish feeling that will stay, long after we've slipped after a year of freedom. Praying with you both and praying you can help pray that faith into your husband's prayers as well. God Bless you Both, miraculously.

Overcoming an addiction isn't easy, and I commend your husband for his work in this. I am praying for you and your husband.

Lord, Help this man to stay strong while he is away from home. Keep his thoughts on how far he has come and the work that he is to do in this new business. May his wife show her confidence and faith in him when he leaves on this trip, and not send him off with a spirit of fear.

I pray that this business and this trip will only strengthen their marriage.

We thank you for your presence that will be with him as he travels, and your support for all that he needs.

Amen.

Thank you all and please keep praying. I can see the stress levels increasing as his trip approaches and he's starting to behave in ways that just aren't good for us. I'm just trying to lay low and stay under his radar and be as helpful as i can be. I'm not thinking this ideas leading to him drinking again but it certainly leads to fighting between us which I definitely don't want to be happening going into this.

.. be as helpful as i can be.
That is the best attitude in any case. Whether we like it or not, our actions are seen by others. Being as helpful as one can be is the best example. Keep up your work, it will not be in vain. I'll continue to pray for you both :)

LORD Jesus,

I pray for this brother and claim for him the promises in Your Holy Word- that he will not be tempted beyond what he can bear. I pray that You will strengthen his heart as he faces these trials, that You will lay Your protecting hand over him and his work. I pray for forbearance for this couple, that they may band together in Your love and that this family will come out stronger than before. I declare this in the Name of my LORD and Saviour Jesus Christ, who died for my sins on the cross.

I believe and I declare this in the name of Jesus, all Glory be to Him.

Amen.

Sister RLFarrar, in James chapter 1 it reads: If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.

If you are asking for prayer for the Lord to keep your husband from temptation, you must believe you will have what you ask. What's the sense in praying if you doubt God will answer? We stand with you in the faith of Jesus Christ that He is faithful and will keep us (your husband included) from falling. Praise God that the Lord has delivered your husband from the spirit of addiction of alcohol and he has been sober for a whole year! What an amazing testimony!! Glory to God!!

Don't be afraid, sister RLFarrar! Your faith is in the Lord Jesus! Remember, it's not by might nor by power but by God's Spirit!

My husband held me tightly just before he left this morning and told me that he loves me and that I am the best gift God has ever given him. He told me that he needs me in his life and that he would be devastated if anything ever tore us apart. It was a moment I have prayed for over many months. Then he left to head across country for the week. We live in Maine so the storm is bearing down on us tonight but the storm was already creating havoc with the airports. His fights have been delayed and / or canceled but they had been able to re -route him. I last heard from him around 4:00 as he waited for his next flight in Charlotte and I haven't heard back from him again. Please pray that he is safe and makes it to his destination.
