Since Saturday, I have endured some of the worst Rheumatoid Arthritis pain I have ever been through in 17 years. I was actually crying and feeling like my body was being torn apart on Saturday, and I had to have my elbow in a tensor bandage because even the slightest movement was 10/10 pain.

Then it went into my shoulder, and my right knee. Last night I could not walk the pain was so bad in my knee. It was swollen like a balloon.

I've been swallowing prednisone like candy, not a good thing to do, but I cannot survive without it. Plus it is affecting my mental health, as it always does.

I probably need a new med, but I have a new rheumatologist and I cannot see him till the end of March. I also have my doubts about finding a med that is strong enough, that won't destroy my liver/kidneys and other horrid side effects.

Thanks for your prayers!

My late wife had severe debilitating psoriatic arthritis so I have an understanding about this type of pain. Her rheumatologist prescribed various treatments and medications that were not effective. You can treat the symptoms of arthritis but the root cause treatments such as Enbrel only work to a limited degree in slowing down the progression. The problem with prednisone is that, being a steroid, you can only be on the medication for a short length of time.

Without her narcotic pain medications she would have had no quality of life whatsoever. Do you have a pain management specialist? She had several very empathic ones who would not try to make her feel like a drug addict for asking for effective pain relief.

Living in Canada probably does not help matters either with the cold and dampness.

To help understand her disease I got a book called 'Arthritis For Dummies'. It is a very complex auto-immune disease with several hundred different types with various progressions. I have also done quite a bit of research on-line but mostly, it is beyond my means to fully grasp. I do know that there is no cure and in the worse cases it will cripple you.

You are in my prayers.

I pray that our Father will lessen the pain. I know how hard it can be to deal with pain as well (not the same kind, and not like what you're describing), and I pray you get relief soon sister.

oh, dear! :(

i lived on fairly high doses of prenisone for two years (80-100mg QD)...
well, it kept me alive, anyway.
but when i looked into the side effects of the biologics, i was like, cancer...death...hmmm?

the end of March is a long way off...but God is good.
i am surely praying for you, sis! ♥

Have you tried cortisone shots?

Father, enough is enough! I thank you that she is healed, by your stripes, in Jesus name.Lord, let her be a testimony for
healing for your glory and what you can do.

Dear Jesus,

I pray for this sister, that you will remind her that on the cross, You removed all of our pain and every disease by Your perfect Work. I declare that by Your stripes, she is healed and I pray that You will remove every lying symptom of this disease from her body.

Take away her pain, LORD, and bless her with Your grace and mercy.

In Jesus most precious name,

Amen

Father, we thank You for Your goodness and mercy, that You have Your eye on Your precious daughter Angela. Lord, asking that You touch her body and remove this pain, fill her with peace, restore her health for the sake of and in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Psalm 91:9-10
Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; 10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

I am going to have to go back to my home province, get re-evaluated and get a higher dose or a new drug. This is not working.

I do appreciate the prayers, I believe they have given me a new direction.

I will add my prayers Angela, I have just had two knee replacements because of osteoarthritis, so I know a little of joint pain, but I cannot begin to imagine how much worse your suffering must be. It doesn't do justice to how you must feel, but 2 cor 4:16 is a verse I like.
