Hi guys,

Just wanted to get a prayer on something.

I've been raised to believe that everything is going to be terrible if I don't have lots of money, and that money is the only important thing.

My father has engrained this judgmental outlook of those who don't have lots of money in me. He's constantly made fun of poor people, and expressed how bad it is to him that he has to pay for others welfare.

Everyone has better character than me, I feel.

I'm going to college soon and I feel it's for a bad reason. I want to make lots of money so I can buy whatever I want when I want it.

I love worldly things, and that's bad. Please pray that my love for the wrong things end.

Take a look at what the love of money did to celebs like Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, and Elvis. They were all filthy rich, bought whatever they wanted, and MJ died broke, alone and addicted, as did WH.. Money does not buy you happiness, nor will it get you into the kingdom of God. Poor people are the richest by far, IMO. Money only buys headaches and heartaches, and fosters jealousy in others who want your money for themselves..

Lord, I pray that you would humble Josh's heart. Make him aware of the downfalls that come from the love of money. Make him content with what he has, and help him realize that he doesn't need money to get what he wants. You alone can supply whatever he needs. In Jesus name, amen.

Just look at the world and how much misery is being caused because of money. People do all kind of crooked schemes to get rich, destroy others and the environment, create harmful foods and hazardous medicines, start wars, meddle wickedly in politics, lie, steal, kill and destroy. They dont care if they will fill their pockets. It's kind of easy to start hating love of money.
Money is not bad but love of money is bad because there is no safety in money and people pile it up to feel safe but they really have nothing. It's bad because hoping in money betrays them, money is not God. They find out they cant buy happiness, safety and peace. When the great depression crisis came, people were committing suicide because all they hoped in were their treasures on the earth.
Praying that God will finish what He has started in your heart. Praying He will fill you with His truth and replace the teachings of your dad with HIS teachings of Truth! Your dad is deceived. Praying for him too.

I would stay humble, but i would say get your education so you can have enough money , things are expensive these days.
And be a blessing to others.

Money is not your problem at all. Employment is NOT your problem. GOD gives us money and opportunity to use that money for HIS glory, not your own glory. Money is a gift. Money is necesary in this world in order to survive with the physical things we need. THE problem is your father's focus not being on CHRIST, but on financial success, lest he forget just how poor and impoverished JESUS the little carpenters son from Nazareth really was. HE owned no house, no mode of transportation, had no health or life insurance, and worse. GOD enjoys giving to HIS children, gifts beyond measure. I understand that Sister Theresa, the world famous lady who lived with the poor and destitute people in INDIA, helping and giving all she had for their betterment, was actually from upper financial means...but rejected it in order to follow what GOD had planned in her heart.

The fact that you don't want to love money is telling. It sounds like you will never let it be the focus in your life or depend on it for your security. Damombomb is correct - things are expensive today and just maintaining your way through life will probably keep you from always having what you want when you want it. Get your education - your values will change as you grow older and stay close to the Lord.

I pray that the Lord will bless you financially, but also give you a loving heart to help others when you see their needs. It really is a wonderful feeling when you can use your money to make others happy. Once you start doing that, it becomes sort of addictive.

God bless you.

Your "reasons" aren´t bad... I will speak just for me: Sometimes I wish I had such a big amount of money that, often, I regret not getting enough. It´s not that I want to buy the world. It´s just I wanted to buy enough and the necessary to stay my hut and my own place. To buy things my friends or some people I know do badly need.

Joshua: College won´t give you that freedom, necessarily!
If you had plenty money to avoid borrowing money to attend to it, but time will tell you about it.

Heavenly Father I pray for Josh, that you would protect his heart, that he would always put you first in his life and would not be driven by a love of money.

1 Timothy 6:10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

Money is not in off itself evil, however the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. The problem comes when we become greedy. If we have plenty of money we may not feel as great a need of God and start putting our trust in money rather than God. God may bless with you money and a well paid job you then just need to seek God's will for how you use the money and use it for his glory. Maybe you will be able to afford to buy an amazing house but you might use it for God's glory by letting people stay etc. One of the most Godly person's I know is very well off. The other thing to learn is to be content however much or however little you have.

I forgot to say don't just go to college so you can get a job which pays lots of money. Go to college and study a course that you love and see where it leads you.
