My grandma is undergoing an eye surgery tomorrow. It's a routine laser operation to reduce her eye pressure, there should be no pain or anything - please pray that it will be so, and that the surgery will be successful. I'm also asking for your prayers for her peace of mind and that God will comfort her before, during and after the surgery. And for a safe trip because she needs to travel tomorrow to another city to have the surgery. I'd put this up earlier but I've just found out on accident, she did not want me to worry so she hid it from me, she always does this which makes me stress a lot, considering that I dont know what is going on and at this point I start fearing at times that something bad could be going on without my knowledge...!

I've had this surgery for glaucoma - it doesn't hurt - but it also didn't do anything that helped.
Sometimes it works - sometimes not. But it is worth a try because it will mean that she could stop taking eye drops if the problem is glaucoma.

Lord, Be comfort for Soulweaver's grandmother. May you guide the doctor's hand that it be done perfectly and painlessly.
Amen.

for heart and eyes (similar physiology/ nutrional needs) > found by websearch> (long bibliography)>

"The eyes are not lacking in beta blockers, nor miotics, nor other synthetic drugs. They are often lacking nutrients that produce the hormones, enzymes and neurotransmitters that control human biochemistry, such as fluid balance, autoregulation of blood pressure and the visual process itself. Current medical practitioners have largely ignored less-costly and potentially more effective dietary, nutritional and life style regimens in favor of high-tech diagnostics, laser and surgical treatment. Eye physicians often find such simple approaches incompatible with their training and antagonistic to the barrage of advertising thrust at them by companies who sell diagnostic equipment or prescription drugs.
Therefore, this writer believes glaucoma patients will have to find alternative approaches to glaucoma treatment outside of the conventional medical marketplace. Unfortunately the present emphasis in medicine is on treatment of disease rather than maintenance of health. Ironically, e ye physicians who prescribe unconventional nonpharmacologic therapy for glaucoma expose themselves to malpractice claims and censure by state medical boards. Yet unproven medical therapy requiring more drugs, then more laser treatment and more surgery, is never questioned by those who police medical care.

The current approach to eradicating glaucoma is so fraught with side effects that it is difficult to separate the treatment from the disease. Anti-glaucoma therapy should follow the dictum to "first do no harm."

Basic objectives of an anti-glaucoma regimen do not differ appreciably from those recommended for cardiovascular disease and maintenance of general health:"

SW, glaucoma is an eye condition in which the sight in the affected eye grows dim..there is a thin membrane that goes across the eye, and doctors usually cut the membrane and remove it..my mom had it done a few years ago..

Then she does have that on one eye (she cant see on the other because she had stroke in the eye). But she cant get the surgery on the eye where she has glaucoma, unless the eye pressure is lowered first, plus that eye is at risk of stroke with the current pressure... she's just about to get the surgery. Praying it will be all right so her other eye can be saved.

you can't have a stroke in your EYE..strokes affect the BRAIN, not the eye..however, some of the blood vessels in her eye may have burst from the pressure or even the eye itself may have ruptured. In fact, my mom had that happen a few days ago. She described it as looking like a spider web over her eye, with a hole in the middle to see out of..I don't know how the doctors lower the eye pressure, but it gives me the heebie-jeebies thinking about it..lol..

One question, she has a cataract, is that the same as glaucoma because it sounds like it? Seems glaucoma is eye pressure related while cataract is a clouded len.
