Should a wife be physically and sexually attracted to her husband for a marriage to work?

she, and YOU, will loose both in time. a lasting marriage needs love and God in it.

Too often that is the only criteria people use these days.

My wife and I dated, and even lived and slept together for 4 years. We broke up and over the next 8 years went on to have other girl/boyfriends as we were attracted to them. But as they came and went we remained platonic friends. One day we found ourselves consoling each other over another set of breakups, and came to the realization that we were just naturally going to be together till death does us part. So our wedding was not about a vow to make a new future, it was an acknowledgment of the one that already existed. That was 12 years ago and we're still good.

The point is, sexual attraction should be part of the mix, but it alone isn't going to hold anything together. A marriage based on sexual attraction isn't a marriage, it's a fling.

Father God, I pray Your Spirit gift Allen with wisdom and knowledge, and lead him to an understanding of the role of the flesh in Your marriage bond. Give his spirit faith that he might follow Your way here. And give him peace in whatever situation has brought this need to light. You know what it is Lord he needs to hear, You know the answer to his questions. May You speak and he hear Your word.

Amen

And, to my CC friends here, next time someone posts in the Prayer forum, how 'bout we pray for them instead of telling them to go elsewhere?

I suggest this in love, not condemnation.
