Hi all
My country will be marching on the 11 February due to situations which have progressed over time. There have been two peaceful marches which went by successfully with no one being hurt. I ask that you pray this march goes the same as well as the other problems my country faces. I do believe in prayer in numbers. United in Christ I hope the situation in my country improves.
Some sad facts about South Africa
It is estimated that a woman is raped in South Africa every 6 seconds
There are some cultures that believe in raping a baby will cure them of AIDS (virgin cleansing)
There is a massive drought currently happening which is killing livestock as well as farming. There will be a food shortage.
There are informal settlements without homes, running water or toilets.
Government hospitals are short of doctors due to non payment of their salaries as well as lacking the medication they need to help those that are ill
Schools are closing down due to gang violence, lack of staff (once again no payment from the government), school buildings being a safety hazard as well as lack of study material
There are more illegal shebeens (illegal bottle stores) than there are schools
Our cities in South Africa are listed as the most dangerous in the world. We are among areas which are at war. We are not at war.
Our currency, the Rand, has dropped to an all time low causing massive inflation. Businesses have already had to close down over the years and many jobs lost. It is estimated 700 people lose their job a day. This number will be increasing.
Murder statistics
Murder is defined in South African law as the unlawful and intentional killing of another human being.
Thank you
