Hi everyone,

My surgeon told me that the only way they can treat me for my gallbladder is to take it out. So, I will be having surgery within 2 1/2 to 3 weeks at the latest. So please keep me in your prayers, that everything will go well with no malfunctions with the surgery or anesthesia.

Thank you.
I love you in Jesus.

Don't try to 'buy' His help with the lie of the tithe. Gal. 3:10

He Is NOT A RACKETEER running a protection racket as the modern Pharisees teach.

His protection, promises, and blessings are already PAID FOR. They're FREE. Simple faith, obedience, holiness, and trust.

Ill pray. Be free. Be blessed.

My wife recently had her gallbladder removed in February and it was a quick procedure and she had no problems at all. She didn't even need pain medication the day after her surgery. I will absolutely lift you up in prayer to the Lord. :)

Back up one. Is the gallbladder going or do you have gallstones? If the gallbladder is going, yes, you need it out.

If it is gallstones, there is another choice. They can do an MRCP, (which is an endoscopy but they actually do something besides look -- in this case, they grab gallstones with their probe), and you keep the perfectly fine gallbladder that does have a good purpose to be there. 50% of the time an autopsy is done, the person has gallstones. Gallstones aren't a problem until either they come out or they block the tube they're supposed to come out of. And yet, doctors STILL immediately want to remove an organ that is there to emulsify fat when you eat. We can live without it, but it usually means cutting back on fats because the body can no longer break them down easily.

An MRCP to remove the gallstones will take you half a day of an out-patient surgery with the only downside being you can't do anything hard that day, ("don't operate heavy machinery," "do not make any serious decisions.") Removing the gall bladder means they cut into you (small incisions, but they still hurt like any cut does), and cut out a small organ. I couldn't sit up in bed for three days, yet we still have to get out of bed, so it hurts. You may or may not spend the night in the hospital, but that's all based on insurance plans, not on whether you should.

So go back and tell your doctor this, (if it's just gallstones. If it's more than that, they should be removing your gallbladder faster than this though.) Not the surgeon, since removing gallbladders is how he makes his living -- your doctor.

There were five decisions I've made in my life I still regret, and removing my gallbladder just because gallstones hurt badly was one of them.

Having trouble eating fat is now a lifetime regret, and I'm not into eating a lot of fat. (Nuts are fat. I ave to watch how many nuts I eat.)

My gallbladder is not functioning properly so my surgeon said removing it is the only treatment.

Did you put on excess weight after they removed your gallbladder?

I am not having any pain at the moment.my surgeon won't be in the office next week. I am getting laser surgery, they enter through the belly button .but if there is scaring they will have to cut me from the side and enter. Hopefully they can stick to the laser surgery.

Thank you for sharing that with me .i have been wanting to speak to someone else that had their gallbladder removed.

Yes, there was weigh gain after surgery, but the two things weren't connected. lol

Actually, without the ability to eat fat as much, weight gain is a little less likely. And, don't worry so much about the side incision. Chances are good they will cut more than your bellybutton, but they are all small scars (that, just so you know, do NOT frighten hubbies into thinking we're hideous, like I feared.
)

Oh, and woman to woman, because we really do get a little vain on how our body looks, (I know we're not supposed to, but that doesn't really stop us from doing it anyway, and this coming from a woman who wears overall, and still admits I have some vanity left lol), if you rub the tiny scars (after the pain leaves, of course, which isn't very long) regularly, they become nothing more than barely noticeable lines on your skin. I know I had four, including the bellybutton, (which I can't see because it's in the bellybutton), but I can't find one at all anymore, and have to look hard for the other two. I did massage them for a few months, until the puffy/stick-up part went away.

For most people, the other side effect besides not emulsifying fat as easily is your bellybutton gets a little bit smaller. (They're stitching it, so it has to be.) Had that been the worse thing ever, life is good. I still find it funny that I can't clean my bellybutton with a cloth anymore. Too small! To think, the only dainty part of my body is my bellybutton. lol

Oh, and the secret of getting out of bed when you can't sit up is rolling out. I was stuck somewhere between "ouch, this hurts" and laughing at myself, because I felt like a turtle stuck on my back. So, try not to laugh too much when you get that image, simply because it's harder to roll over when laughing.

<--------- This is NOT an accurate picture of me trying to roll over while laughing, but only because there were moments of ouch inserted.

And the ouch is about what you expect after surgery like this. It does ouch, but it's not shockingly painful. That part only lasted three days with me. I've heard some only get one day, and the record was a week, but he refused to get out of bed, (like the doctors tell us to do), and ended up with a hernia because... well, he didn't get out of bed for a week, and that includes going to the bathroom, so he strained too long. He's just my husband's funny friend. We chuckle over him often, but he's both stubborn and relatively normal... for a blue-collar worker. lol
