I feel bad for continuing to post requests about this issue....

For those of you who don't know, I have a condition called Ocular Rosacea. It badly affects my eyes causing them to burn uncontrollably, feel extremely dry and irritated. My eye specialist has me on a steroid drop called Lotemax and I'm only supposed to take it every other day.

At this point, even that drop isn't helping me and I feel like giving up. The past few days, my eyes have been terrible. Absolutely terrible. They are hurting/burning so badly and there's nothing I can do or take to relieve this pain.

I have been praying for my eyes for the past 4 yrs, have attended healing rooms and had people pray over me/my eyes for healing, so many people are praying for me for this problem to be healed, yet, my eyes continue to get worse.

I'm on my last rope. I don't know what else to do to get relief from this issue.

This affects my daily activities.

I already struggle w/ enough things but, my activities is what helps me when I go through a tough time and now, I feel limited by that.

Tomorrow one way or the other, I am going to go downhill mountain biking w/ a few friends. I am concerned about this bc my eyes have been very very bad these past several days and the reason I'm concerned is bc I often times have to blink many many times bc of he dryness/burning of my eyes and when biking, I Need to see where I'm going and cannot be blinking all the time otherwise I may crash. I am just hoping out of all the days, Tomorrow my eyes will feel GREAT. Hoping/praying for that, but yes, I am doubting bc I continuously pray for my eyes to be good, yet, they aren't. I may get 1 out of 20 days in which my eyes are "ok"

I'm just depressed and frustrated over this.

I almost feel like i'm doing something wrong as to why God won't help me w/ this problem. Why it continues to get worse and not get any better thru everyone praying for me???

What more can I do?

Chelated Vitamin C may also reduce your allergic reaction to your dog. Good luck!
I was just about to post this on your older thread when I saw this thread; God bless!

Are you being treated by a doctor? Or is there nothing they can do for you? Eyes are sometimes hard to deal with.

Perhaps reconsider your mountain biking adventures and just stick to the road, till you can get this under control? I have had to give up even road biking, my RA is so bad, so I understand how you are feeling. It sucks.

I will pray for your eyes to improve. God is in control, always remember that!

I'm seeing an eye specialist every 3 months but, he can no longer help me. He has given me the steroid drops which will hurt me in the long run and his other "advice" was to get rid of my dog which I REFUSE to do. I've had her since she was 10 months old and now she just turned 9. She's an amazing companion who I could never give up.

Last year I tried getting glasses made specifically for motorcycle riding but, it didn't help one bit. I think air still came through and I still had issues. Last year I purchased a pair of prescription sunglasses so, now I wear those when riding my motorcycle during the day but, the mountain biking..... the prescription glasses don't work so well w/ that so, I try to wear my contacts w/ the mountain biking goggles --- that for me works the best but, my eyes aren't happy.

I appreciate the prayer from everyone. I just prayed and asked God for help for a cure for my eyes to, something that would surprise my doctor if God healed me of this problem. I would be very happy if my eyes were cured.

How about a compromise? I've been told by different specialists to do stuff, only to do what they asked and find out it didn't help anyway. Can you let a good friend take your dog for a week to see if it helps? I know, even if it does help, you're not giving her up. But, if it does help, at least you know when the time comes for your dog to die, you'll know your eyes will get better. (This isn't permanent is a relief in itself.) And if it doesn't help, at least you know you made the right decision in not giving her up. You can tell that to the specialist, who, sometimes, will then come up with even another choice.

Specialists tend to be tunnel visioned. They get a thought in their minds and that's it, until proven that's not it. Once proven that's not it, their minds are freed to come up with other possibilities.

I was allergic to my cat, but loved him too much to let him go. When his time came, as much as I miss him, I knew better than to get another cat. (Besides. Another cat isn't him no matter what.)

Actually, the days when i'm not working and If I stay home the entire day, my eyes are usually much worse then if I go out and am either with friends or doing other things that day and am not around my dog. So, yes, my eyes usually are better when I'm not around my dog, they still get irritated w/ other things in the air but, they aren't always as bad.

I'd have to start fresh, if/when my dog passes (hopefully, she'll be alive for another 6 yrs or so), but, we'd have to get rid of all our carpeting, get air purifiers in each room, and only have wooden floors everywhere bc I know my dog's fur and my previous dog's fur is probably still in the carpeting. When I was initially speaking w/ my specialist about dogs, he told me if I were to get another dog, I'd have to get either a non-shedding one or a hypoallergenic one --- which doesn't make me all too happy bc I love my lab mixes and my shepherd mixes. They are such good companions.

The older my dog gets, the harder it gets for me. Because back in 2005, I had to put my previous dog to sleep. Worst day of my life because although he was 60 lbs, he was like a baby to me. I was in the vets office for nearly 2 hours w/ him that day, holding him, afraid to let him go. A friend of mine at the time texted me, and told me that he had a very good life and I need to let him die w/ dignity, so, I let him go. He literally died in my arms. It was so difficult. My parents had to pry me away from his body. I was thrown into a 3 yr depression after his death. After 3 yrs my parents agreed to let me get another dog but, at that time, even though I was experiencing dry eyes, and after my previous dog's death, my eyes improved so much but, i didn't think it had anything to do w/ the dogs but, after owning my dog for a little more then a year, my eyes started getting bad again and now, they just continue to get worse.

When I take my dog to parks and anywhere outside, I'm fine. I can hold her w/o an issue too but, it's just being home, w/o any air circulating that causes issues. Even if we have our ceiling fans on, that doesn't help.

Have you changed your air filters? Gotten a machine to filter the air, vacuum more often?

Gotten safety googles that limit air flow into your eyes?

Go around blindfolded for a day to give your eyes rest? Used a sleeping mask to keep things out of your eyes at night, change your pillow case and sheets? Gotten rid of rugs, carpets and other things that can hold dog hair or dust?

When no one knew (admitted) what was wrong with me, I tried everything including a food allergy specialist. After figuring out it's not food, (well, except for clams and soy, which I already knew lol) the allergist wanted me to get someone to thoroughly clean my bedroom, including getting a cover for my bed that's supposed to stop dust mites, (I really am allergic to dust mites), add an air filter system into my room, and then seal up my windows and door for three weeks. Yeah. Really. He wanted me to put myself into a hermetically sealed chamber just to see if the cause for my pain was from some household allergent.

Errr, NO! If I were that rich, I wouldn't have made the deal with the guy to give back my $850 if we found out his suggestions didn't work, so... NO! Couldn't afford to do that. (Wouldn't have, if we could. I like eating and don't want to live with a chamber pot in my room for three weeks either.)

So, off I went to another specialist.

Here's the kicker. I am allergic to dustmites. BUT my IBS is caused by a pinched nerve in my back that was directly related to them pulling me off the operating table after gallbladder surgery. They miraculously put two and two together after it was too late to sue. (15 years later I went back to my primary, who didn't know before and described the pain the same way I told her the first time, only to hear the instant diagnose that a nerve in my back was pinched after the operation. That had to be on purpose that she didn't know 15 years earlier.)

So, yeah, when you're in the house with your dog, it's worse. When your outside of the house with your dog, it's not worse. Your doctor is stuck on your allergic to your dog. If that were true, being outside your house with your dog would be bad too. I suspect something in your house. Maybe dust mites. Maybe something new that came in your house when this first started and stayed. Carpeting? A new plant that still lives? Someone painted your room with a new kind of paint way back then?

Any which way, I strongly suspect not-your-dog! You do not have to worry about your dog anymore.

(And, yeah, my cat died on my lap at home, so I know how attached we can get to our pets. I was there when my cat was born and then still there 16 years later when he died. Oh, and a cat having that catlike nature even after death, his last act was to pee on my lap. It hurts to cry and laugh at the same time. lol)

I'm so sorry your eyes are causing you such pain, I would recommend trying to use an air filter like Ariel82 was saying if you haven't tried already. HEPA filters can improve air quality a great deal but you would want a fairly large one in your case. If you do get one I would recommend asking to try it out first in the store because it is a big expense and then you can make sure it is quiet enough for you. Also make sure it has enough air flow coming out because that can make a big difference in terms of how effective it is. Air filters with larger pore spaces than HEPA though may not be able to clean the air of fine enough particles, a true HEPA filter though is able to remove particles even down to the size of bacterial and fungi spores. Might also be a good idea to set it up in a room that you or your dog spend a lot of time in. Wish you luck! I'll be praying for you!
